We decided to try out this new restaurant & I was hoping to have my taste buds awoken but unfortunately it didn't happen.
I'd like to start with positives.. Our waiter I forgot his name but he was fantastic!!! Really made our experience at the restaurant a great one.
The restaurant itself is beautiful with an amazing atmosphere.
Sumac Sour Cocktail had mine made with Gin and it was one of the best cocktails I have had.
Food on the other hand... Not sure if it's because I have a foodie palate but my husband & I found the food to be bland.
Appetizer was the bone marrow.. There was not enough bone marrow to spread not even on the smallest corner of my bread.. & definitely was not enough to share with my partner. Waiter was nice to offer us another one on the house. The 2nd one was alot better even the presentation.
My main was the braised short rib.. When I think braised short rib I think super tender it was the opposite of that & cold with little flavour.
Husband had the 8oz steak also again very very very bland and chewy.
Dessert was alright.
Presentation is beautiful but I find when it comes to the flavours of the dishes they need to be improved.
I would come back maybe once they're more established & try it out again because we really did like the atmosphere & there are not many restaurants like...
Read moreOn Friday, July 21st I took my partner to Cork and Coast. We had a fantastic experience. Welcomed in with such familiarity and grace to our table. Our server, Natalie guided us through the drink and food menu with clarity and poise. She brought me a tasting of two wines I couldn't choose between and together we chatted about what would pair more with the featured meal on highlight for the evening. My partner and I had a lovely light appetizer before our mains and we enjoyed a dessert. All of it was lovely and so intricately prepared for the guest. The dining experience was sensational as the food caused us to eat slow and revel in the flavours coming together. I was so impressed with their cocktail options at the end of the dining experience as well! Seriously innovative and fresh! I had an apricot smash, and it was sublime. I could come back even for just the cocktails as the ingredients were so novel. The beer options were incredible as well, Karen enjoyed her Tesla's Revenge IPA from Broken Rail Brewery in St.Marys with tasting notes of Mango, Papaya and Grapefruit. Yum. I highly recommend visiting Cork and Coast and discovering the talents of Chef Wyatt as his dishes provoke the innate desire we as humans have to sip, savor, and allow our stimulus to guide us through these...
Read moreWhat a nice little gem we found here in Goderich. Right from the moment we set foot in the restaurant, we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm from our hostess. Through chatting with her, we found out that the whole establishment is family owned which was a nice tidbit to know. The food was refined and sophisticated - like something you would find at a high end restaurant in Toronto. Sure enough, through making small talks with the Chef, we found out that Canoe and Richmond station were on his resume. So I guess it shouldn't come as a total shock to find an atypical dessert like seabuckthorn posset or an app like potato roll with leek butter to be on the menu. Chef Wyatt is a name to look out for! Everything we ordered from the menu was certified Fire! We had both desserts on the menu and even ordered an additional posset because we couldn't get enough. As a kind gesture from the chef, we got the second posset comped because it was my gf's birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our curated dining experience at cork and coast and we would come back here again in a heartbeat. Goderichian are very fortunate to have Cork and Coast here. We look forward to having the sea urchins and chai tiramisu...
