The food was ok. There was nothing special about it and the predominant flavor of the main was salt and dessert was sugar. We started with the Stilton fondue which was delicious and enjoyed a bottle of wine, a Canadian Cassini Bordeaux blend. Both the starter and wine were the only redeeming part of the meal.

For our mains we had a NY strip and the house Cannelloni. The Cannelloni was dry and the sauce was under-seasoned. The steak had an overarching salt flavor and the vegetables were undercooked, almost raw. The shining star of the steak dish was the chimichurri, which they almost perfected but needed garlic and the addition of red chili.

We ended with dessert to-go with the berry cheesecake and chocolate truffle. The cheesecake literally tasted like raw cream cheese with sugar sauce with sparse berry bites. The truffle was gross, the forward flavor was sugar with an extremely faint cocoa flavor.

The food lacked complexity of flavor and was similar to airline food or something you would be served at a professional conference.

We booked our reservation several weeks prior to our trip into Golden to celebrate a special occasion. When we booked by phone we included our dogs on the reservation. On the day of our meal we noted that there was another table with a dog right next to them on the grass but we were told we had to tie our dogs approx 20-25 meters away in direct sun. When we asked about our dogs staying next to our table on the grass we were told, no. We pressed and asked what was different about our dogs and were told “it’s dog central today”. We then bore witness to several staff members complaining amongst themselves, in front of guest tables, how busy it was and how “this is too much today”.

Our server, although amicable, asked us for our order, but greeted a local and her guests (it was obvious they knew each other) with talking them through specials and recommendations. Being from a tourist town, we know your locals carry you through shoulder season but don’t make it so obvious you must endure tourists and have double standards.

Addition below to address the restaurant response-

We certainly did note our two dogs on the reservation when we called weeks prior because we knew they would be with us and this was an important meal of celebration. Our initial question on the phone call was asking if dogs were allowed. We were told they would be right off the table on an adjoining grass area. Your staff then asked if we wanted a reservation as evenings could be busy and we made one at that time. If staff failed to write it down in the book that is not our fault, perhaps the restaurant was overwhelmed that night as well.

There was no offer to move us tables part-way through our meal. As for our dogs being in the shade, there was an approx 2 foot area near the tree that they could not both initially fit in. As the night progressed, the shade area did increase. Yes, water was offered, thank you……Bottom line, the restaurant adhered to a double standard.

Again, the food was ok. Just because there have not been complaints before does not mean on a busy night your standard was not upheld. We felt like your restaurant wanted us gone from the start, so instead of complaining we ate, paid, (tipped) left and wrote a review. The whole meal felt like we were being rushed and it was very...

Although this restaurant came highly recommended to us during our recent visit to Golden, I was less than impressed. They have some unique options on the menu. And the decor is nice, with local art on the walls. This is an old house, so much of the dining room is sectioned which allows for a more cozy, romantic meal. We found our server to be quite abrupt and not friendly. We did not receive bread with our meal, which it seemed as though other tables had. So we asked for bread, and half way through our main course some cheesy garlic bread appeared (with an extra $$$ and more attitude from the server). We were staying at a local hotel and received a 10% coupon for this restaurant. Unfortunately we forgot it at the hotel room. Upon mentioned this to the server, we assumed we would get the discount. Again, our request was approached with attitude and we were told that “next time you shouldn’t forget it”. Our drinks took a very long time to come out, and so did our food. Our waters were never topped up without asking. White wine wasn’t poured from the bottle. I had the lemon basal pesto pasta, nothing too impressive about this meal. At the end of the meal, the ladies taking payment were both really great, so i think our server...

Excellent servers - very cheerful and helpful Fabulous food Smallest bread roll (yes only one) I have ever been given with a meal but was very good. Approximate 1 inch x 1 inch. Atmosphere was quaint Music went very well with the atmosphere of restaurant BUT - Supervisor in pink dress was pretentious. Inside seating was less than a quarter full and she said "I'll see if we have an opening" - Felt like it was a complete inconvenience that I selected that restaurant to enjoy a meal. After a minute of whatever she was checking she said "I can fit you in". As if it were a privilege that I was allowed to eat there. When I was done eating which was half hour to 40 minutes later the restaurant was still less than half full. When I am back in Golden I would go back due to the servers and food but if I saw the pretentious supervisor I believe I would go somewhere else. No need to have and employee make you feel unwelcome in...

Obviously an established finer dining experience restaurant in Golden. I popped in for lunch and had the Early Bird 3 Course Dinner. I think that it was called something like that. It might have been dinner time as i never pay too much attention to the time. 1st Course was Carrot Soup. It was good but it was missing something in my opinion. It needed a little more zip for my taste buds. 2nd Course was Fusilli Pasta which is almost the same as Rotini. It was very good and very filling. 3rd Course was 2 quaint tarts for desert. I can't remember what they were called but they were quite delicious. Not too sweet. Definitely a must try if you are wanting more of an upscale restaurant. This place is in an old house and the atmosphere is perfect for their menu. A nice assortment of wine to go with your meal. Definitely hit this place up when you are staying in Golden. I sure will he back next time in town.

Fine Dining in Golden, this is the spot. WOW. parking is a bit fun as it is street parking (however didn't spend the time to look for their personal lot) Tastefully decorated with local artists work and is quite intimate (despite the size) I put that down to that it is a renovated family home turned into a restaurant. The restaurant is quite busy so call in advance to book a table (even for 2) The service/staff members were impeccable from recommendations to conversation while dining, paid attention to detail of the clientele. The menu was robust with plenty to choose from. Chosen were the dragon boat (order more bread for soaking up the sauce - what dreams are made of) the duck breast and the squash cannelloni, a banana split to share. (yes, I left with an overstuffed belly and glazed over happy eyes.) Hindsight would have been to pick a different desert.

The food here was amazing. We picked this place out on short notice passing through Golden and it turned out to be such a gem. You walk in and see the team of folks cooking and immediately know you picked the right spot when the smell hits you. We had the fondue and the daily cannaloni (black angus/spinach with balsamic drizzle that night). I never do fine dining, and i would say this place is as close to fine dining as you can get without entering the realm of "fine dining" pricing. This place was great food at good prices and I would go out of my way to eat here again if I'm headed through Golden.
