My First Ever Negative Review – Disappointed at Royal Tandoori, Granby**
We visited Royal Tandoori in Granby yesterday and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We were the first customers of the day, arriving as soon as the restaurant opened. We placed our order around 11:45 AM but didn’t receive our food until 12:30 PM — quite a long wait, especially with no other customers ahead of us.
We ordered two vegetarian buffet meals and one non-vegetarian buffet, each priced at \$25. For that price, we expected decent variety and flavor. Unfortunately, the taste did not live up to expectations. The paneer curry in particular tasted more like plain tomato puree — lacking depth and seasoning.
What was even more surprising was the absence of dessert. In most Indian buffets, a sweet dish is standard — whether it’s gulab jamun, kheer, or something simple. This buffet had none, which felt incomplete.
This was, sadly, my first bad experience at an Indian restaurant, and I don’t usually leave negative reviews. But at these prices, with underwhelming food and slow service, I felt compelled to share here and I told server that we are in rush we need to attend meeting and if your out of water you should until they come they said unlimited at first when we ask for naan she said only I can give chanamasala and naans are extra we said it’s buffet to her then she said I ask the chef and let you know then she said it’s included moreover when ever we will go to this restaurant and...
Read moreThis place is the bomb!!!! We stopped at this gem of a restaurant on our way back from Mont Megant to Montreal. We ordered the tandoori special platter which has 4 pieces of chicken Tikka, 4 pieces of malai chicken,2 pieces of chicken tandoori, 3-4 pieces of seek kabab and 3-4 pieces of shrimp and we loved all of it esp the seek kabab and malai chicken Tikka!!! They gave us papdum with a mint sauce and sweet sauce. They totally nailed it! We also ordered lamb Rogan Josh and basmati rice with a naan. And I must say that the naan was soooo soft and it surprisingly stayed like that even though we ate it after eating all the kababs. We asked for the Rogan Josh to be spicy and they didn't disappoint, it was the correct amount of spice we were hoping for and the lamb was also cooked so well. On talking with the server, we got to know that it is their family business and they do such a good job! Love it when it's a whole family scene especially when they are all so friendly, customer centric and know how to run a restaurant that serves quality food. How refreshing to find an Indian restaurant that serves good Indian food and not Americanized. By the way, when they asked us how the food was while we were having our lamb I mentioned it's great but I would like it to have more gravy, they actually got us fresh made gravy!!! Take that for Customer service!!!...
Read moreFrom the first spoon full of the soup, I knew this place was next level. Each mouthful was like a story playing out over my tongue as the flavours crashed into each other and combined to a perfect balance. I wrapped some of the crispy naan around the tender and creamy butter chicken and the crunch of the naan and the chicken falling to pieces in my mouth was so satisfying I involuntarily closed my eyes and found myself having visions of another life. Suddenly I was standing outside of a remote cabin by a snowy mountain road. It was not my body, but I could feel the cold wind on my face and sense the warm light shining from the cabin window behind me. I'd just finished a meal cooked by my grandmother, my belly was warm with home cooking and my heart filled with the familial love that comes with a close knit family over generations. I opened my eyes and I was back in the restaurant, tears welling in my eyes. I kid you not, this was the most incredible meal of my life, and apparently a past life? I don't believe in past lives but I really felt transported. I know it sounds like I was high, but I was not. The food was just that good. 197/10 would go again, eleven thumbs up, highly recommended,...
