Lil Ava's Pizza & Pasta - Downtown — Restaurant in Grande Prairie

Ordered a donair pizza using Skip (that was my first mistake) I didn't realize there were 2 types of donair pizza. One made with pizza sauce (who in their right mind would think that tastes good???) and the other made with Donair sauce. The option for the pizza with Donair sauce is at the bottom of the skip menu. So being a normal person, scrolling the menu I clicked "donair pizza" when I saw it. It arrived to my house and it was nasty. I called Lil Ava's to see if the sauce was a mistake, and they explained what happened. So even though it was part my fault for not reading the whole menu (which, why would I when I found what I wanted) and partly Skip's for their terrible menu display, Lil Ava's fixed my order and sent me a new pizza. And THAT my friends, is why we support local. Guarantee you a big chain wouldn't have done...

First time having Lil Ava's today, it's taken me this long to jusitfy spending $30 for one pizza. The bottom line is, that this pizza stands at the top tier of ALL pizza in G.P, and stands shoulder to shoulder with the elite homestyle pizzerias, such as the coveted Ramona's, and Majors (Sam the pizza man). Ava's pizza is large, thick, and is covered generously with cheese, toppings and sauce. The crust is an ideal pan pizza crust, crispy with a soft interior. The staff member who served me was very polite and friendly. My only criticism, other than slightly high price, is that i ordered the Mexican pizza and the tomato slices were served on the side. I do appreciate the idea, but the very thick sliced tomato was clumsy to eat this way. Regardless, 5 Star,...

The pizza is pretty good, nice and thick lots of toppings and the crust is nice and crispy and tastes great. It’s not my favourite style of pizza as the pepperoni is the bigger deli style and all toppings under cheese.

The hot wings are not spicy, they taste great but are fairly small.

One of my biggest complaints is the dip, if you’re making great pizza in my opinion you should serve equally as good dips. The ranch tastes similar to a low quality 7-11 ranch dip, not creamy and almost has a gel like texture.

I’ll be back but will try the Halifax donair and if I get pepperoni I would ask for it on top. Maybe my next visit will be a 5 star if I skip the wings and dip and try other pizzas!
