Good Mexican food in Alberta isn’t in one of the major centres, if it is, kindly tell me where. Good Mexican is however available way up north in Grande Prairie, Mia Berria delivers. It’s been a while since I’ve had good Mexican, and this place hit all the right notes.
I started off with a Dos Equis—not because of the most interesting man commercials, but because I once worked at a Mexican chain restaurant years ago and it sounds cool when pronounced correctly. 😀
The restaurant itself is comfortable, and the service was great. Alejandra was my server, she was both friendly and accommodating. She asked each table if they’d been there before, offered helpful suggestions, and pointed out the enchiladas upon my asking what was a house specialty. I ordered one of each—beef, pork, and chicken. Everything is an add-on, including the sour cream and guac, but it was worth it. The guacamole in particular was refreshingly complex.
The meal overall was absolutely stuffing. Don’t let the plate size fool you—mine was incredibly filling. I left feeling very, very satisfied. Bravo...
Read more“NOT MY PROBLEM” We’ve been loyal customers here, but after today we won’t be back. I ordered Beef Tacos and Enchiladas for pickup today, and also added Strawberry Tres Leches to my order. After coming home and opening the bag, the Tres Leches cake was missing. I immediately called the restaurant to let them know and asked if they can deliver it. I told them I have a kid and a baby, and I would rather not leave the house again. And the lady on the phone just said “That’s not my problem”. She even told me to order the cake from Skip the Dishes despite the fact that I already paid for this cake. That made no sense. For a restaurant that always promotes supporting local, why refuse to use Turbo Delivery to make things right? Unfortunately, this experience left a really bad impression and completely ruined my day. Great food doesn’t make up for poor customer service, and I truly hope this restaurant invests in customer...
Read moreStopped in for lunch and ordered TRADITIONAL BIRRIA which is a double corn tortilla layered with cheese, topped with cilantro, onions, and crema. I went with the beef and tortilla chips with pico de gallo. Comes with two tacos and is absolutely phenomenal, the dips were out of this world, if I wasn’t so full I would have ordered two more.
As a started I tried the ELOTE CORN which is fresh corn on the cob smothered in a creamy mexican crema rolled in cheese and spices and a lime wedge. So good, so, so, so good, I stuffed it in my face as fast as I could and couldn’t get enough.
The chips and pico were awesome too, so fresh and wonderful.
Our server Alejandra was an absolute delight.
Can’t wait to come back and...
