I don't normally review but I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Soto yesterday. The restaurant was not very busy when my husband and I went there for lunch based on the positive reviews we read online. There was only one server working at the time and she seemed completely incapable of handling her job. We watched as she ran between the few tables(no more than 5) forgetting portions of people's orders on the counter and moving on to the next. She took our order of one sushi roll and two Don bowls and left our table without saying anything. My husband is an ex chef and was seated facing the kitchen as he misses cooking and enjoys watching the bustle of a busy kitchen. After about ten minutes he remarked a bowl had been put in the pass that he thought may be his and the waitress was coming with our sushi roll. After dropping off the sushi he watched her take the bowl off the pass and place it on the counter by the server station. The sushi roll was very good and I didn't pay much attention to the goings on while eating but my husband was watching her move around and he seemed annoyed. After our roll was finished I asked him what was happening and he said that he had been watching the server move around over the last ten minutes working around what he assumed to be one of our bowls of food. He watched her handle her hair, the garbage, scrape plates, and even wipe her nose with her bare hands without washing them. Sure enough he was right about the bowl being his as she picked it up after bussing a table hooking her thumb into the rim of the bowl and plopping a fork into it and bringing it to him. He took a first bite and it was cold, so he moved the toppings over and tested a few bites of the rice finding it to be only warm. After dropping food off at another table the waitress returned with my bowl. My husband asked her why she had moved his food out from the pass to sit on the counter and remarked that it was cold. She said that the food was fresh and hot and that it wasn't sitting on the counter but he had been watching the whole time so requested a new hot one this time. The server gave a little scowl and returns with it to the kitchen, where there were a couple of beeps and a door slam. After about 2 mins my husband said his bowl had reappeared. The waitress dropped the food off and my husband immediately checked to see if it had been remade, and it turns out you could see where he had eaten the rice underneath still. When the waitress returned my husband asked why they had reheated his meal in the microwave when it was her fault it was cold in the first place. She replied that the entire order had been remade until he remarked that only two minutes had passed and showed her where he had eaten the rice before. Then she said that they just remade the top and replated it on the same rice, so my husband asked if the rice would still be warm or had it gone cold during the recording of only half the dish. That's when the waitress stopped talking entirely so he said he would not be eating and asked for the bill. She refused to take the rice bowl off the bill also. I give Soto two stars because the food is pretty good but the server we had ruined the experience for...
Read moreThe server was very nice but the manager or owner not so much. There’s an obvious language barrier and when ordering my husband didn’t realize what he was ordering was not something he would eat. He was expecting something similar to sweet and sour chicken with thick pieces of white meat chicken and lo mein noodles. When brought out what was supposed to be lemon chicken looked like a plate of fried crusty tiny chitlins and plain slimy udon noodles. When we told the staff that it was not something he would eat they attempted to argue with us and try to get him to “try it”. Very uncomfortable and awkward situation. He didn’t try it and they pressured him to order something else, which we did, even though he repeated several times he did not want anything. What came out next was teriyaki chicken that was similar to a frozen healthy choice bowl. When the check came they asked if we wanted to box up the unwanted food. Of course not. It was so unappetizing to look at he didn’t even try it. We were charged for all the meals. Terrible customer service. I wouldn’t eat here again if someone paid me to. We didn’t tip which we never ever do, but we feel the tip should come out of the pocket of the restaurant for horrible customer service and charging for an uneaten, untouched meal. I’m sorry the server had to suffer the impact of...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment with the recent experience I had at your establishment. I placed an order for delivery and was shocked to learn that your restaurant does not allow courier drivers to use the washroom facilities.
As a customer, I believe that it is unacceptable to discriminate against anyone based on their race or profession. It is not only unjust but also goes against the values of inclusivity and respect that should be upheld by any business.
By denying the use of washroom facilities to courier drivers, your restaurant is effectively perpetuating a form of racism and discrimination that is completely unacceptable. It is essential that you rectify this situation and take immediate steps to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their race or profession, are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
I urge you to take this matter seriously and implement policies that promote equality and fairness. I look forward to hearing back from you soon on what steps you plan to take to rectify...
