I want to start by saying that I love Subway. I've been a customer for 10+ years, and don't plan on stopping now. The meatball on flatbread, and toasted cold cut on herbs and cheese, are my favorites. They are what I usually get when I visit Subway, and are what I have in mind when I recommend Subway to others. This is because of their (usual) freshness and variety of ingredients, that I have come to expect. In the previous 3 months however, I have been very unsatisfied with this particular Subway. Since starting my new job in Crystal Lake, I've visited this Subway almost every week day. I've ordered different subs on different breads, rice wraps, you name it. The quality is sometime straight-up offensive. The iceberg lettuce is usually wilted if not soft/wet, and the tomatoes and green peppers are sometimes frozen. Again, I've been here daily for months. Cucumbers? Don't bother ordering them; they're paper thin and soft. The staff are indifferent at worst and very polite at best, depends on the Sandwich Artist™ you get. The young guys an girls assemble sandwiches (wraps especially!) like amateurs. Oldies do good! But if I order "too much" I can expect to find my sandwich overflowing with ingredients upon opening the paper wrapper. You'd think these kids would know how much spinach can fit on a footlong! And oh, half the time I'm at the drive thru, I have to remind the kid what chips I want and what soda I ordered, yes, it's a DIET Dr Pepper... It's frankly embarrassing! I usually walk into Mucho Burrito next door now, depending on how badly I want my darned footlong cold cut combo. I'll give this place another run-through in a year, maybe. For now, I can't recommend...
Read moreWent through the drive thru I was the second person in the line the vehicle in front of me had a family of 5 so I expected a bit of a wait it was 5 minutes for them to finish ordering then I was asked to wait a minute or two before they could grab my order. That was fine I placed my order the young lady taking my order did a fine job but then I pulled around to the window and the other car was still there. It was almost 15 minutes till they opened the window to start handing out sandwiches and taking payment, the sandwiches must have been wrong cause I watched him hand at least 3 back before he started the process of getting a refund by which time I called in to see how much longer cause I'd been waiting over 20 minutes I was told just 5 more minutes and when I got to the window I asked if there was going to be a discount for the near 30 minute wait I was told no and offered a cookie. My husband said his sandwich was at best an attempt at making one. Will not be back to...
Read moreMy chicken pizziola sandwich was well equipped and looked delicious, but I found the chicken to taste and smell almost a little "fishy"? Threw me off a bit. Good service otherwise.
Update: went there again today, ordered the steak and avocado special they had. First guy did everything well, the it got passed off to the second girl, who I had to remind that the steak and avocado has avocado on it. Then she puts the smallest amount of avocado on and starts piling my veggies. So I questioned her on the lack of avocado and she asks someone else, and comes back, takes my veggies off and puts double the amount of avocado on. Puts the veggies on, absolutely covers it in Sriracha and then asks if I want more... uhh no. She finishes my sub and because it is now already swimming in amsauce I asked for a side of BBQ sauce, she opens my sub again and starts dumping BBQ sauce in it. Ate half of that saucy monstrosity and threw the rest out. I would not advise going to...
