Santorini Mediterranean Grill — Restaurant in Greater Napanee

Valentines dinner WITH reservations. Despite being a well enjoyed place to dine with local's and people around the area, Santorini 's failed miserably by not having enough wait staff on for a very anticipated busy shift ! Firstly I will digress by saying, it is a lovely place with usually pleasant and accommodating wait staff. Knowing fully well a booked solid restaurant is only as good as the service, they went ahead anyway ,with tightly booked tables and 2 servers. With reservations, you may plan to wait up 10 minutes for a table .we waited 45 ! Then after we were seated , another 60 minutes went by before our server was able to reach us for ANY contact . We put in a drink n food order together ,nothing to complicated . Seeing as the menu has not changed that much since new owners took over, prices are fair to market, the food was good. However , our server whom is usually pleasant and very accommodating, was stressed , and obviously embarrassed 😳 trying to keep up with her normaly professional serve.

This stressed us out , and no one else really seemed to notice!!! Ther was nit even a.notice from the current owner whom was trying to assist with drink orders etc. If this small local place wants to keep business ,they better treat their servers with respect! And should have called in another server for the two hours of their dinner seating . Not impressed ! May or may not return . Such a lovely place too Shame ! Should be ashamed...

I deleted my last review given that my second visit was completely different.

1st visit was great, second one, not so much...

I had the Falafel plate with rice, veg and potatoes

The food was fine aside from the rice and tzatziki (no flavour or spice, bland minute rice is what it reminded me of I had to mix it with the veg to be bearable and the sauce tasted like plain yogurt I am a fan of the sauce but this was the worst I'd ever had.

My company had the gyro plate with rice, veg and potatoes as well.

The gyro meat was SO overcooked that when he took a bite it was a loud crunch. Extremely dry and burnt to say the least, he said it tasted like it had been left out all day and as for the rest of his plate the exact same problem with the rice.

Our waitress was very scarce at least half of the meal, my water had been empty from before my apps up until I was almost finished my dinner. She asked if the food was good and we replied with "eh it's okay" and she didn't further pursue the conversation. She was pleasant at the end when we were the last customers as we believe to have seen the owner on our way out (unsure).

Didn't really feel we could resolve this at the time given it would have been quicker to go home and make dinner as we waited a full hour for our dinner to arrive and the waitress wasn't around enough for it to be worth addressing.

Overall...

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner here tonight. I have high standards for my Greek food and my husband seems to get shafted a lot because of his gluten free needs at most Greek restaurants. We’re often frustrated because of that. He had a number of options in the appetizer and main courses!

We had an assortment of food to eat tonight. Chicken and pork souvlaki, Mediterranean chicken, the falafel and the lamb shank. Not one person didn’t rave about their meal. Even my two year old, who was exhausted half way through the meal, ate a great amount off of our plates.

My only suggestion would be to add a gluten free dessert option to the menu. Even if it’s just ice cream or something else - it helps everyone feel included. With that said, it’s still a five star meal and we plan to come back again in the future!

Also to add - Our waitress was great and friendly and was very good with our daughter’s needs for things like ice and more napkins. We were beyond pleased. I only wish that I remembered her name!

Try it out! The restaurant has great food and the staff we saw were absolutely wonderful. Despite most places having staff issues due to inflation and staffing our food was served in a timely fashion and we were treated wonderfully. It’s one more reason I’d move to Napanee 😍
