Great donuts and friendly staff. Stopped in here on the way to visit the museum in Napanee a few blocks away. I love trying small, local bakeries. Bought some pastries, a bunch of donuts, cinnamon twists, scones. Donuts were some of the best I've had. The usual flavors but didn't skimp on fillings or glazes. They are a bit smaller than Coffee Way in Kingston and a little more expensive (but not unreasonable), but the flavors are better here including the texture. The scone was just average and the cookies and cream croissant was excellent--great flavor, large, and actually crispy as the croissant should be (not like the soft grocery store ones). Overall, I can recommend this place.

This place has potential, but all three baked goods that we purchased had long since decided not to be delicious and were very stale. As a reminder, ham and cheese croissant sandwiches, along with fresh cream stuffed pastries need to be refrigerated; I am sure your public health inspector would agree with me. The lady that was working was very pleasant Edit: The products we purchased were a Cherry Danish, a Chelsea Bun, and Nanaimo Bar from the display case. There was nothing indicating that any of these three treats were day olds, and there was no spring to any of the items.

Another wonderful addition to the downtown and yet another terrific reason to visit Napanee! The Dundas Street Bakery is a refreshing update on the downtown bakery experience. A wide array of freshly baked items are teasingly and temptingly displayed plus patrons can enjoy the offerings in stylish and cozy cafe seating area. Long-time residents will be ecstatic to discover the return of the old fashioned doughnuts and egg salad sandwiches on brown bread as well as a whole new range of offerings that are guaranteed to please. Enjoy!

People please redirect this bakery with feedback and hopefully they might take our advice and improve their baking! I have given them a few try-outs because they are new, but this bakery is actually doing very poorly. Although they make nice (albeit small) donuts and cheddar cheese bread, here is a list of utterly terrible items that anyone with an oven could have done far better baking:

  1. Terrible brownies (liquidy icing that tastes like sour milk and chocolate) so that you cant eat them, certainly cant transport them home and are beyond messy. They need to rethink the brownies entirely.
  2. Messed up chocolate chip cookies. Honestly, they should call them what they really are instead of trying to pass these cookies off as just chocolate chip (as one might reasonably expect a chocolate chip cookie to be). Instead they have made a soft version that includes some some bran/ oatmeal inside which is off-putting when one expects a normal, typical chocolate chip cookie. They should have labelled them as an oatmeal chip (or whatever is in there) version or stop experimenting on the buying public. Unforgivably bad move.
  3. Disasterous butter tarts. Heavy, thick, dry pastry surrounds an overly runny, underfilled centre that just tasted of sugar syrup and water. These folks simply cannot bake. Who is running this terrible bakery??? - Noooooooo! Owners should ensure they actually know how to bake something properly before putting it out for sale (like those brownies and butter tarts - YUK). Perhaps they should take a page from Culbert's Bakery in Goderich (open since 1877) and just do everything they do - why? Because Dundas Street Bakery could enjoy amazing success if only they would learn to expertly bake a stock group of items and then stick with them (and earn a very large and loyal following in the process as the famous Culberts has done - and is such an easy pattern for any wanna-be bakery to follow). This bakery just cannot get it's act together other than as a donut shop. With such potential and wide geographic area to capitalize on so easily, it is such a shame that they are destroying themselves with so many unacceptable items. As an experienced baker myself and one who knows both quality and proper baking standards, these offerings will be rejected by the paying public very quickly - so they better...

Was in here on the 7th and bought a loaf of bread asked for it to be sliced. The young man who sliced it didn't wash his hands first after serving the customer after me. I asked why he didn't wear gloves and he said they don't fit him and they don't have any in his size. So I asked why he didn't wash his hands first. He condensendingly asked if I'd like him to slice another loaf, I said of course. But wash your hands first please. He did, then again in a condescending tone apologized for the messy way the bread went in the bag because he didn't want to touch my bread with his hands. And then went straight in the back with a verbal huff. I thanked him anyhow and left. Please educate your staff on the necessity of hand washing during a pandemic, and give them supplies needed. Don't want to see your business closed do to unnecessary simple things that should be very straight forward. Wash between customers. We are...

I went into Babs on Monday to order a birthday cake for my granddaughter's twelve birthday. The theme was basketball. I was told it would cost $45. I agreed on the price with pick up on Thursday which was the day before the party. I was called on Wednesday to say that the boss indicated that it was a specialty cake and the price would be $97. I felt that this was too much of an increase and indicated that I was now without a cake. I also felt that they should stand by their original quote. Canadians gauging Canadians!!! How sad, although the dear lady who was left to call me with the bad news was very kind and offered to stay late to make some kind of cake. Which is more than I can say for the owner. Left...
