Good beer selection and finally... a good thin crust pizza.
I'll start with the beer since it's a brewery. Silly names, but pretty well made. LOTS of IPAs, so if that's you're jam you'll be set. I was pleased to see one dark beer on the menu at least, and in summer to boot! It was delicious and deep. Sweet, with just a touch of bitterness. I also had the sour, yum yum juice, because the server said it was made with Five Alive. It was PERFECT for a summer patio moment.
The pizza is thin crisp but not overly thin. Probably about .5 cm. It led to actually being structurally sound, which is something so many thin crust pizzas are not. I got the mushroom goat cheese and my date got the pepperoni. The pepperoni was perfectly classic. Strong pepperoni flavour without being too salty, nestled within a good layer of cheese. The mushroom goat cheese was fun, very cheesy and light, to the point that I felt happier alternating natural pieces with pieces covered in hot sauce. Also their HOT SAUCE!!! It's that super vinegary just barley hot kind and it's sooooo good for pizza. Esp with the goat cheese. This pizza was good cold.
The building itself is nice. 4 picnic tables, lots of indoor seating--both tables and a bar.
Didn't use the bathroom so...

This was my husband's favourite brewery, so naturally when we had friends from out of town we suggested this was the place to go.
There was no signage saying anything about seating outside, so my friends sat at a table and I went inside and asked if we could sit at that table. I was told "well it looks like you're already sitting there so there is nothing we can do now" by the male staff member. I apologized, asked if I should move to which i recieved no clear response.
With that we sat outside, to which the server irritably told the group we would have to move and wait to be seated as the table was "clearly too small for our party". They took our party name, but we decided to leave. I've never felt so uncomfortable in my entire life, and equally embarrassed for suggesting we should go here. I would have been happy to wait, and did not intend to...
Read moreAle Architect is one of my favorite places to grab a pint and a slice in Edmonton. I really appreciate the additional bike rack outside the brewery making it one of my favorite places to ride to. The only thing that's better than the beer, and the Birch and Bear pizza, is the staff!
Edmonton has such a vibrant Craft Beer scene. Ale Architect holds a special place for me for the intentional atmosphere that they cultivate. Their mission posted on their website reads "Ale Architect brewery and taproom exist in a space where creativity, design, and engineering overlap. A dynamic place for sharing food, drink, conversation, and ideas fueled by good vibes and positive jams" Not only does AA post their mission and values, both online and in the taproom, but more importantly...
