I recently had the misfortune of visiting here and I must say, it was an experience I won't soon forget. Unfortunately, it's not for the reasons one would hope for when dining out. Prepare yourself for a tale of woe and frustration.
Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted by an ambiance that seemed promising. The decor was charming, and the atmosphere held the potential for a delightful evening. However this was all merely a facade hiding the chaos that lay ahead.
We were quickly seated by an indifferent hostess and handed menus, leaving us with a glimmer of hope. However, that hope began to fade as we noticed the passing minutes turning into an hour without any sign of our food. Our stomachs growled in protest as we watched other tables receive their meals, leaving us baffled and hungry.
To add insult to injury, our waiter seemed to have vanished into thin air. It was as if we were invisible, with no one tending to our needs or bothering to check on us. We desperately longed for someone to address our concerns or at least offer an apology for the extensive wait.
As the minutes turned into an hour, we couldn't help but notice the unwelcome presence of mosquitoes. These relentless pests buzzed around our table, disrupting any chance of peaceful conversation and adding a layer of discomfort to an already frustrating situation. It was as if the restaurant's indifference had extended to its pest control measures.
To make matters worse, our drinks took an eternity to arrive. It was as if the concept of time ceased to exist within the confines of this restaurant. Thirsty and exasperated, we resorted to flagging down a passing server, who seemed equally oblivious to our predicament. Eventually, our drinks arrived lukewarm and diluted, further compounding our disappointment.
Unable to bear the torturous evening any longer, we made the decision to cut our losses and pay the bill. The taste of defeat mingled with our dissatisfaction, leaving a sour aftertaste that lingered long after we left the premises. Our evening, which held the promise of a delightful dining experience, had turned into an arduous ordeal that we would much rather forget.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend St. Louis Bar & Grill - Guelph Clair Road Location to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience. The excruciating wait for food, the absentee waiter, the unwelcome mosquitoes, and the agonizingly slow drink service all contributed to an evening of frustration and disappointment. Save yourself the misery and seek out a more competent establishment where your time and...
Read moreI went to St. Louis tonight with some teammates and we were delighted to find out that they had an all-you-can-eat wings deal on for $24 (or so we thought). That’s at least how they advertised it. When I asked for my first order at around 9pm, I wanted two pounds of wings - one pound of medium and one pound of salt and pepper. I was told I could only get one pound and one flavour for the first order, but that I’d be able to change flavours on the next order. Okay, no problem. The first order took about thirty minutes, which is pretty slow in my opinion. When I tried to make a second order, the waitress told me “one second”, took off, and didn’t return for about 25 minutes. Pretty horrendous service. Almost like she was intentionally avoiding us (prior to this, she was very eager to ask us if we needed more beers). When she finally came back, my friends and I placed our second orders of wings. We waited for about an hour and fifteen minutes for the second order, which when it came, was FOUR LITTLE WINGS on a small plate. Four wings? What? The first order was their typical bucket of wings - I assume one pound. Why in the world is the second order a plate of FOUR wings, and why did it take an hour and fifteen minutes? We were given NO warning the wing orders would come in batches of FOUR after the first order, and NO warning it would take so long. I certainly wouldn’t have waited an hour and fifteen minutes (til 11:15pm) for that second order if I had known I’d only be getting FOUR wings. At least the wings were EXCELLENT quality. Just kidding! They were subpar! Small! Bland! Over-cooked (naturally, since they spent an hour and fifteen minutes cooking them)! I guess I can at least thank them for not under-cooking them! Oh also, my one friend left after placing a single order because he wasn’t able to wait long enough for a second order, and he was still charged an extra $8 for the all-you-can-eat meal ($24), over and above the cost of a single pound ($16). Unbelievable! Do they think they can just screw people like this, and essentially lie about the service they’re offering (which should have been called “all-we’ll-let-you-eat wings”), without losing business? I don’t get it! This isn’t a winning strategy guys! Once the people figure it out, they’re not coming back for more! At least I won’t be! And neither will the people I went with! It’s a shame too, because I know about 25 people who live within walking distance, and now they’re ALL going to hear about...
Read moreMy partner and I moved to Guelph in August and have ordered take out from this location 3 times. At our previous home, we ordered st. Louis fairly often over the last 3 years and rarely had a concern. We have had an issue all 3 times we ordered from this location. #1: boneless chicken bites: something was really wrong with these. The chicken was a tiny little circle with a ton of breading. The breading fell off all the chicken and tasted really low quality. Not at all what we are used to with st. Louis. We figured maybe it was an off day. #2 tried the hot original wings hoping these would be better. They were. They tasted fine. Although they must have run out of fries because they seemed like McCain fries...if we knew they were out of fries, we could have ordered other sides because that was ridiculous. #3 figured we would try again. It's been a few months, really hoped for the best. Both ordered hot original wings. Now for context, my partner used to eat suicide flavour wings although recently within the last few months, decreased the heat to hot and I've always maxed out at hot. We know what the flavors are, we know what they taste like, this isn't new. These wings were not hot wings. They were MUCH hotter. I had to rinse mine to eat them, and my partner was sweating as he does with suicide wings. This was not enjoyable. I called to bring my concern instead of coming here for a post although no one called me back. There was no manager on the floor when I called although I was told they would take the message and get back to me. Realistically, I wasn't hoping for anything other than to give a heads up to look at the labeling of the sauces and hopefully hear my feedback. Although given there hasn't been a response, decided to leave a review in hopes there's an increase in quality checking. Particularly things like the hot sauces being...
