If you’re looking for a hearty dinner with a combination of pastas and seafood selections this is a great spot. It’s that old family restaurant type feel.

Unfortunately when we walked in no one was there to greet us. The women at the counter remained on the phone and kept her head down. I asked if we should seat ourselves or stand and look around. The feeling of being an inconvenience in someone’s day. Luckily the waitress whom came to our table after we seated ourselves saved our impression with a kind smile.

The menu has a number of selections depending on your appetite or what you fancy. We ordered a few different things off the menu each to meet our taste buds.

The food was alright the saying, “you get what you paid for.” would come to mind. The clams were a hit in the way they were prepared and definitely what we were looking for. The fish and chips were more oil and batter, having to play hide and seek to find the fish within the batter. The end result was it was filling, and a hit and miss. Sadly the smell of oil as you leave stays on your clothes and you are reminder of your dinner. Not being from then area i guess one could say it was a...

Jim’s is my mother’s favourite place to eat out, so we go there when she wants to go out. It’s a traditional family restaurant with regular Nova Scotian home cooked meals. I think on the best bonuses of the restaurant is the location and the view. One of the best (and least well known) views of the Halifax harbour and the Bedford basin. Just beautiful. You can sit by a window seat with the best view, or in the summer, sit on the deck for a full experience. The only downside is the train tracks are literally 100 feet away between your view of the basin, and the trains do move on a regular basis. However, it still is the best view. Not many other restaurants can compare to this. I had what I thought were the best fish cakes ever there, but they are apparently no longer on the menu. Today we ordered the meat lovers 9” pizza and the map salmon dinner. The maple salmon was good and very large. The vegetables were somewhat sparse, and the Greek potatoes weren’t the best I’ve had, but the Greek salad was one of the best I’ve ever had. Well worth the price on all accounts. 9” pizza $10.99. Maple salmon...

We had diner at Jim's tonight. The parking is fairly limited and fairly difficult to maneuver around. Against my better judgement, we wound up parking in the lot for the building next door. Not the best circumstances, but it is what it is. Once inside they didn't seem crowed at all. We chose a nice window overlooking the railroad and the water. I've had much worse things to look at while dining. So that was a plus. We thought about dining outside on the outdoor deck, but it has been chilly this week. So we opted for the window table. Our waitress was very professional and did a good job. The food was very good. The wife chose shrimp and chips. I chose scallops and chips. We tried each others and agreed that both were excellent. We had no room for dessert. Our experience at Jim's was excellent on the inside, not so much outside. But all in all worth the trip. And the price was very reasonable. So I do recommend Jim's for a good meal. Hopefully the parking...

A very casual dining experience. I ordered the seafood platter and the donair plate. The sweet potato fries were too soft and limp imo and didn't have enough crunch; perhaps double frying would help do the trick. The donair plate was pretty good although a little confusing to eat with the pita sitting under all the meat. Did you want me to roll it? There was too much meat to reasonably roll though, so I'm not sure. The seafood platter was decently fried up, although I was a little confused when the haddock did not come fried as with the rest of the plate. I will say that the most positive thing was the portion sizes which were huge. The staff and service were also great 👍👍👍 Jim's Restaurant is a solid experience for me.
