My wife and I were shopping at the Premium Outlet Mall this morning which turned into the afternoon by the time we were done. It is exhausting walking around the stores etc.
Having lived in Barbados for a year in my younger years, I had an instant craving and connection when I saw the food truck. I really enjoy the subtleness along with the "in your face " spiciness that make Caribbean cuisine so amazing and delicious.
Therefore, it was a no brainer for me to try this Jerk Chicken food truck located near the front entrance facing Steeles to take home and enjoy.
We ordered: 1) Jerk Chicken Meal with Rice & Peas with coleslaw for an additional $0.75. 2) Jerk Chicken wrap 3) A Side of fries.
It all come out to about $25.00 after taxes.
The jerk chicken was ok, it was not bad at all. But it was missing that BBQ smokiness and aroma to it. Maybe I am just too used to my fav Jamaican restaurant's flavours.
But all in all, I love to support local businesses. And operating a food truck / food industry is hard work, so my respect and my hats off to the owner.
Please give them a try if you are at the mall shopping and then let us all...

I went to the Toronto Premium Outlet Mall just to get food from here today (Sunday). Google and the Jerk Xpress website said they were open from 12pm and their website even allowed you to place an order (pay online) for pickup within 20 mins. I got there around 1pm to find out they were closed but I stayed around for 40 mins just in case someone happened to be on break or something. I called multiple times within that time frame and there was no answer.
When I called again around 4:15 a lady finally answered and I explained to her the above. Her response was something along the lines of “Oh we opened at 2pm today”… no apology for the inconvenience or incorrect hours they have listed.
These people either show up at whatever time they want without regard for the business hours they have posted or they haven’t taken a moment to update their new business hours if...
Read moreVery nice to have ethnic food options like this food truck. We had: jerk chicken w/ rice and peas & curried goat w/ coleslaw and fries.
I found chicken to be a bit on the dry side. Unfortunately the portion wasn’t that great, it was more like “jerk rice”. Goat was nicely marinated and tender. But again there was too much rice. The ratio of meat to rice isn’t right.
They are friendly but they easily panic and get upset when things go awry. For instance several more customers came after us, then they rushed and forgot to put our fries. If they learn to step back and remain calm and professional (instead of emotional) then I’d give them...
