The staff at The Clay Oven are nothing short of first class. Even on a terrible snow storm these fine gentlemen were open and made my wife's birthday a very special one. We had the whole place to ourselves for most of the night and had an amazing meal and were stuffed at the end but had to get some food to go for tomorrow it was so darn good. Prices were great and the variety is amazing and they are licensed. The sweet naan the chef sent out as a little birthday treat for my wife was unexpected, rich, sweet and tasty and none was left at the end. I am so glad we didn't end up at a big box chain restaurant and ended up here. It is one of those happy surprises. The meal options were so plentiful and so tasty and our server was patient and explained the various dishes and what to expect. I am so grateful for good service these days and these gents were nothing short of that. I can't say enough wonderful things, we are so lucky they are a short drive from our home town. I am sure we heard about The Clay Oven from some friends and now we know why. We found our go to restaurant when Indian cuisine is on the menu moving forward. Do yourself a favour and get spoiled and try some amazing food at The Clay Oven in Acton. I should note; I love Kingfisher beer from Indian and they didn't have it BUT our server surprised us with Cheetah Lager and wow great tasting beer that went great with some of our dishes. Once again, wonderful friendly staff, I feel bad I forgot to ask our server's name, but that's ok we will be back and I will be sure to get his name he was so nice and patient. Thank you once again from a very grateful family of 5 that simply loved our dining experience at The Clay Oven. See you again soon. Wishing you continued success. Keep up the great...
Read moreAfter looking at the ratings I was interested in getting this however I was extremely disappointed. The portions are way too small of the naan it’s absolutely ridiculous when we opened the foil and found the tiniest 4 naans (which was considered to be 1 naan; I have uploaded the picture). If you go to any other Indian restaurant you get 2 big naans which is considered 1 naan. Especially for the price, very disappointing. In addition, the butter chicken was not appetizing at all, it was way too sweet and the chicken was extremely hard to cut with a knife. Overall I won’t be coming back here and I most definitely recommend any other Indian restaurant over this, as portions are small and more expensive at the clay oven.
I am editing this review after seeing the reply of the restaurant: we were infact not told whatsoever the butter chicken would be sweet as I would have not ordered it then. And as for the naan portions, if you go into any other Indian restaurant you get 2 naans (so it would be 8 small pieces) for the price you are giving one. Instead of offering some sort of consoles the restaurant has replied to my review with sarcasm and disrespect. Even more unhappy...
Read moreSo we gave it a chance, 3 times, we had Chana masala ( slight deviation from the flavour we enjoyed) , chicken tikka pasanda ( never had this, it was very good) , aloo gobi ( no chunks of cauliflower this time, barely any potato, like mush ), and chicken biriani , a couple of the dishes were over powered by to much Cilantro. If you go to the KEG does the food taste different at each KEG , the answer is no! So from what we can see, the original owners had set dishes, that always tasted the same, you went there because your palate said yum , I want this! I'm confused as to why when someone buys a business....why would they ever make changes to the flavors And put their own twist on what their patrons got used to? This is a recipe for failure, they should stick to the original owners recipes to the letter or risk losing repeat buyers, which we are. There is slight differences that our taste buds didn't like, right now we are not sure if we will chance it again. Maybe in a month or 2, we will...
