Artie's — Restaurant in Hamilton

Neighbourhood gem of a store.

So far we've tried: -Their sandwiches, which are so flavourful and fresh, and very filling with a good amount of meat -Three or four different types of focaccia, which all had great texture and great flavour combinations. They onion and honey was our favourite -Their tiramisu, which was decadent -Their fresh pasta, which is just so much better than dried packaged pasta -Their pizza with Capocollo and honey, which was the best pizza I've ever eaten and my husband thought the same. Our toddlers also loved it. -A pasta salad, which was really bright and punchy with great textural variety and the noodles were not overcooked!

It's on the pricey side, so it's not an everyday thing for us, but you can taste the quality, and I do think it's worth the money. The customer service is also great. I'm looking forward to trying the other items they...

I love Artie’s - especially their sourdough but I’ve been sick 3 times after eating something from here. I don’t think it’s food poisoning but both my husband and I have been sick every time we grab a sandwich (and for me once from the focaccia). I recently spoke to a friend and found out she had a similar experience. I think that either there is too much oil or some other ingredient that is too rich and upsetting our stomachs.

I won’t stop buying from Artie’s but I will be more selective about what I buy. The tomato sauce and pizza dough is fantastic and I haven’t tried the pasta but I’m assuming the same.

Best bread & sandwiches around !! My favourites are their Sourdough loaves (both Ciabatta & Brioche) and their Tomato Sandwiches :) If you get lucky or follow them on Instagram for updates, you might get your hands on a Sourdough Semolina Tomato Loaf (picture attached) which are TO DIE FOR !! ♡♡♡

Staff is super friendly and kind, all the ingredients are fresh & local, and the fridges are always filled with great take / make at home options like fresh pasta and homemade sauces! This is definitely a must-stop on Locke St, make sure to check it out!
