If you love donuts (or even if you don’t), this establishment is definitely hands down worthy of being on a top 10 list of the best donut shops in North America. I'm NOT kidding! The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is family friendly and incredibly delightful. Donut Monster is a donut and pastry Mecca - a MUST visit. You won’t be disappointed.
When it comes to pastry standards… their apple fritter? Oh. Ehm. Gee. Absolute perfection. Tim Hortons' sad little fritters might as well be apple-scented coasters in comparison. And the cinnamon roll? My other half took one bite and fell in love. By comparison, I think Cinnabon serves icing covered sugar bricks disguised as pastries. As far as the multitude of variety and flavors they hand craft in small batches they're incredible. From Blood Orange to Cereal Donuts and everything else in between, WOW! Someone recently told me that they make seasonal flavors from sweet to savory (case in point I can tell you their Sweet potato fritter is another culinary taste bud delight - someone mentioned to me that they supposedly make a Kimchi donut - eclectic sounding for sure and it's on my radar if they indeed make them).
While you're there, don't forget to grab a fantastic cuppa tea or a cup of freshly roasted coffee while you're there. It's like “Love and Marriage”, you can't have one without the other.
Yes you pay more of a premium price for their delights, but trust me, after one bite, you ain't gonna care.
Donut Monster doesn’t just make donuts—they create next-level, mind-blowing treats that put the big chains to shame. Forget the mass-produced mediocrity. This place is the REAL DEAL!
Make a trip to the corner of Locke Street South and Charleton Avenue West in Hamilton. You won't regret it!

Read moreWe were excited to try this place as it seemed like a really cool spot to try. We came in 15 minutes before close, at 5:45pm, which would be plenty of time to order a donut and quickly eat as we were the only ones inside and having a donut each (a donut requires no prep, just pull and toss in a bag). As we walked in, the two staff working said they are closing soon, in 15 minutes. As we were looking at about 6 types of available donut options they kept saying "what do you want" and rushed us to order something.
My husband sat down with intention to quickly eat his donut. As he sat down, once again we were reminded that they were closing in 15 minutes. I said to him that it is clear we are not welcome and that we should take our order and sit on a street bench as it just felt icky to stay knowing the two women working there were displeased we sat down. We had no intention of staying more than 5 minutes - we simply wanted to avoid carrying hot coffee and donuts in our hands. So we got up, grabbed our order and left.
This poor customer service made us feel like our patronage is not wanted and we did not feel welcome. No problem - we will not be back.
The donuts were just ok. Had we not been rushed to order, we may have chosen donuts we liked a little better. The coffee was pretty good. So the one star is for the coffee and the other is for one of the donuts we had that wasn't as dry as the apple fritter - which was really disappointing.
We hope you will treat your...
Read morePros: Specialty donuts you won't find elsewhere. Some of the best tasting donuts I've ever had. Cons: Price (for some). Personally, for the types of donuts and the flavor, the pricing is more than reasonable and cheaper than similar types of donuts found in the USA. But for those wanting cheap, basic donuts, this is probably not the place to go.
When I get donuts, I always have high standards and look for specialty donuts I can't find anywhere else. Normal fritters, chocolate or glazed donuts, etc. don't cut it for me. Donut Monster has some of the best specialty donuts I've ever tasted, second only to Stan's Donuts in Chicago, IL, USA. You are paying 1.5 to 2x the price compared to donuts from Grandad's Donuts, but you are getting donuts and flavors you can't find anywhere else. If you're in the mood or are a fan of donuts like the peach cheesecake donut, lemon blueberry or peach cobbler fritters, or strawberry lemon donut, then this is the place for you. If you want a simple donut for cheap, then I suggest going to Grandad's for the better price. As for me, this would...
