We had a truly disappointing experience here and left feeling frustrated and misled. On our way back from Toronto to Buffalo, we stopped by this place because it looked clean and modern. Although there was a strong smell upon entering, we didn’t mind — we love Indian food and enjoy street food, so the restaurant’s name really appealed to us. We were looking forward to a quick and flavorful meal before catching our flight.
Between this restaurant and Lazeez (just two doors down), my 8-year-old daughter chose this one because she wanted to try the avocado masala sandwich. Before ordering, we specifically asked whether the sandwich was spicy, as she absolutely cannot tolerate any spice. The person at the counter assured us multiple times that it was not spicy at all — in fact, he even said it was sweet. We asked again to confirm, especially since the item was listed under the “Hot and Spicy” category on the menu board.
Unfortunately, the sandwich turned out to be very spicy — even for my husband and me, and we come from a culture known for eating spicy food. Our daughter couldn’t eat it at all and ended up in tears, hungry and upset, and we didn’t have time to get anything else. When we returned the sandwich and explained, the staff member insisted it wasn’t spicy by his standard, completely ignoring the fact that we had made it clear our daughter couldn’t handle any spice.
To make things worse, my lamb chops — which were promised in 5–10 minutes — didn’t arrive even after 40 minutes. My son’s butter chicken finally came after 30 minutes, but it was too late for him to eat much since we were running out of time. When I asked for a refund for the lamb chops, I was told they were already being packed. We took them to go, but they tasted like plastic and were inedible.
We truly enjoyed our 7-day trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto — this was the only negative experience we had during our entire vacation. I would not recommend this restaurant, but if you do decide to go, please be cautious. Do not rely on the person at the counter (a young-looking man — I’m not sure if he was the owner or just a staff member, but he was the only one there) for accurate information about the food or wait times. Otherwise, you may end up feeling just as misled. His attitude wasn’t rude or angry, but he was not honest — and that’s what made the experience especially...
Read moreCRACKED TOOTH on a large cardamom pod Honestly, I’ve eaten here a couple of times and the food is really tasty…HOWEVER- I had the Samosa Chaat, tasted amazing, but I took a big bite and CRACKED MY TOOTH on what I learned later with a cardamom pod. At the time, I didn’t know what it was so I emailed the company and Pooja, the person on the receiving end of the email got back to me the next day, apologizing offering me a credit or to talk further to see what they can do, and explaining that it was in fact, a cardamom pod. My tooth didn’t get better and was hard to bite down, so I went to the dentist finding out that I chipped my tooth and cracked it as well. I got it fixed and they said I might actually have to get a crown. This is quite unbelievable. I emailed her to let her know-and I have researched online talked to an friend who is a lawyer, and usually when this type of thing happens, the restaurant or place of establishment would actually pay to get your tooth fixed. I have now sent multiple emails to the company and they are completely ignoring me. I also have called a couple of times, but there’s no answer when I call with my number, but is when I use my husband’s phone which is really REALLY unprofessional, and if they would just get back to me and have a normal conversation about this, we could work something out. I hate to leave this review because it makes their company look REALLY BAD deep down at its core, but I guess that’s what is really behind this company. Could have paid a couple of hundred dollars to get my tooth fixed because their food cracked it! My tooth was perfectly fine before eating in their establishment, and unfortunately, the size of the cardamom pod looks like a plum pit and I could’ve choked or somebody in my family. (Image attached)This is serious and needs not to ever be in the food ever again. Not...
Read moreReview time: We visited Chaat-Spot after I saw a sponsored advertisement over Instagram regarding this place. However, we were the only customers there. The girl working there was really sweet and hard-working and she even clicked a photo of us. But, this review is regarding quality analysis, taste and how this place can improve, as long as they want to. Menu (speciality/customized) bowls are slightly mismatched as it was complimented with chickpeas in both (saag paneer/masala paneer). So, definitely, there is a need to think again about the recipe and could be altered with salad and sauce. Also, rocks(rice) were not fresh at all. It clearly looked like they were refrigerated and were heated afterwards, as they were sogy and sticky. Rice lumps or rice sticking together is a sign of being refrigerated. Taste was average and needs improvement, so as the presentation. Mango shake was good, we loved it. We loved the ambiance there. Most importantly, for business growth, promoting any business on Thursday using paid advertisements is not a good idea and won't fetch enough customers. I hope to see improvement and so that we can give a better feedback next...
