Firehouse Subs Queenston — Restaurant in Hamilton

I had an extremely bad experience here today. It wasn’t just about what happened. The way the whole situation was communicated and handled was unprofessional. I called in and ordered 2 subs. We asked if the cheese from the second sub could be put on the first sub. We order from this location at least once a week. Every time we order we do this and it hasn’t been a problem. When we arrived we decided to pay separately. This is when I noticed the price of the first sub was higher than normal. When I asked why this is, I was told that’s because of the extra cheese. I explained that it wasn’t extra cheese but the cheese from the other sub. I was told that they aren’t able to do that. I asked why I wasn’t told this over the phone. The person at cash(the manager) didn’t reply. I asked why has this never been a problem before. He answered that they don’t do that because it’s a loss(This doesn’t make sense to me. My friend paid full price for his sub. He didn’t pay less because the cheese got taken off.) I asked to speak to the manager or owner and I was told the number is on the front window. I checked for the number and there was nothing there. I came back inside and asked for the number again because I still hadn’t gotten it. I was rudely told that “you got your extra cheese”. I am a fan of firehouse subs. I remember the first and only in Oakville and it was consistently amazing. I know there's a lot of chains now but I always hope that they keep up with the standards and expectations. Unfortunately, I cannot say that for this location. My boyfriend and I went there today for take out and we both got standard subs with not many add-ons or revisions. I ordered the large hook and ladder with the hot ones special spicy dill sauce and had a thorough conversation with the employee that I really wanted the sauce but not the spicy pickle on the side because I wanted banana peppers on the sub too. Not only did I get maybe 2 banana pepper slices on my large sub but I also got no spicy dill sauce. It was a white sauce that tasted somewhat sweet and I still have no idea what the flavour was. I ordered from an app for pickup. I guess they don't greet you anymore when a customer enters the store. The approximate time for my food to be ready was 12:02 and I arrived about 5 minutes early. There was a rack for online pick up orders but it was empty. I waited and 4 customers came in and were given their food and no one acknowledged that I was waiting. At 12:15 I went and asked if they had an online order for Doug and they looked through their order slips and said no. A worker noticed a couple of subs sitting at the end of the counter(not in a bag) and they were mine. The employee put them in a bag and handed them to me with no apology for the wait.
