This place is typically okay for customer service. However today was a horrible experience. I was with my boyfriend and after we ordered the person serving us asked if one of us can wait outside (even though it’s snowing and freezing cold). I understand this is “Covid” times however, there was so much space that allowed us to be distanced away from people. After we ordered we went and stood by the door . There were two other couples behind us in line along with a few other single people . Then another one of the women behind the counter came and told us from afar that one of us has to stand outside. So my boyfriend left and I stayed sitting on the ledge. Since it was busy and I have a previous injury that doesn’t allow me to stand for very long I stayed sitting. Then another girl comes and tells me to stand up and I said “no sorry my ankle is tired” and she left. As I’m sitting there watching other couples stand around and not being told one of them has to leave it started to really make me wonder . So I asked the other couples standing beside me if they were asked to have one person stand outside and they both said no. So I got up and asked the one girl “ why she asked one of us to leave but everyone else can stay” she started getting rude and saying that “everyone has been asked to have someone leave” and I said “that is not true since I just asked both of the couples” so then she changes and says that “ they can stay cause it’s not as busy” I don’t know how that now makes sense when my boyfriend and I were in line before both of the other couples . So makes no sense why we were the ones “selected” to have one stand outside and wait. This is getting beyond ridiculous and even with Covid is very stupid. This location really needs to “rethink” there protocol and look into sending your one employee through some customer service courses. Highly disappointed and it sucks cause the food is...
Read moreFirst time there and as I walked in I noticed a vast array of hotsauce ready to set your mouth ablaze. Initial thought was that this is the reason it's called firehouse... (Its ok to chuckle at my bad humour).
Once I got to the cashier, I was given a rundown of what to expect and a breakdown of the menu. (It seems to be a long and laboured feat. I couldn't help but notice the cashier drift off into the back of her mind to remember the entire spiel verbatim...at the end of it all I expected her colleagues to applaud and congratulate her...) After I had digested all of that info, I weighed up if I was still hungry...I was.
Order Large Hero Sub $13.49 +HST switching raw onion for sauteed onion (no extra charge) (everything else was just the way they do their thing)
The marriage of flavours is really good, and the portions are huge. The sub is loaded with a good amount of shaved meats as well as generous helpings of lettuce and tomato. I didn't order a combo and I know that that was a good idea because 2/3 into this monstrosity I was ready to explode.
The reason I have rated it at 3/5 is for the following and will require a second visit to either raise or lower this rating as it was partially my own fault:
I had mine to go... hindsight, this wasn't the best idea because by the time I got home the underside of my bun was soggy either by the mayo / lettuce / pickle (that's placed in a bag under the sandwich) / condensation (due to a hot sandwich going into a closed container) or a...
Read moreFirst time here and Olympia was the one who helped me. You can tell she takes pride in her work and her restaurant and so do her staff. She was very excited in telling me the history of firehouse subs and what she recommends and was just genuinely nice. The store itself was really nice. I'm not usually a sub type of guy but a friend told me to check them out so I did, and I don't regret it one bit. The atmosphere it self was great and it's due to the fact that Olympia herself is very cheerful in leading her team. They also follow a ritual that very few stores do, which is greeting their customer as they come in. As someone notices a customer they yell out "10-12" and all the staff in the store respond with "welcome to firehouse" being my first time there I was caught off guard and it was kinda cool. On to the food, I ordered a sweet and spicy meatball sub (recommended by Olympia), to go, she let me know it was gonna be messy but I was up for it. The thing that stood out to me was the freshness, the bread was utterly soft, fluffy and chewy you could tell that it was made recently either by them or a bakery but it was really good, their meatballs were good as well, almost falling apart soft, the cheese that they use tasted fresh along with their topping, it was really good. The cookie was sweet, chewy in the middle crispy on the outside. Over all great experience. I promised to write a review if I liked it hope this fits the bill! Thanks for the...
