Galito's Flame Grilled Chicken — Restaurant in Hamilton

I drove to get some quality chicken from Brantford, since this is the closest location. The chicken was flavorful and nice and moist. We got 2 flavors; spicy honey garlic and lemon herb mild spice option. My favorite was the spicy honey garlic, but my wife preferred the mild lemon herb for the more pronounced grilled taste. The fries are nicely seasoned and if you like something more than just plain white rice, then you will appreciate the peri rice.

Only have a couple of small issues, one of which is with the dry bread sticks. I could chalk it up to the fact they were no longer fresh when I got home and should have popped them in the microwave for 20sec. That being said, there wasn't much of any sort of flavor to speak of and they were rather plain overall. I would have also liked to see a more sauced chicken experience. The Galito's we used to go to sauced their chicken to the point you could grab the chicken or bread sticks and dip them into the leftover chicken sauce/juices. I miss that. We ordered the family package for 4 and asked for the chicken to be very well done. Sometimes places assume “well done” is enough, but when a customer asks for very crispy, super roasted, or even blackened, it’s worth clarifying or showing the chicken before boxing it (as some other places do). When we got home, the chicken was cooked through—no concerns there—but not as crispy as we wanted, so I had to put it in the oven a bit longer.

Prices are good, and my kids really enjoyed the garlic sticks—they’re very big and long, which was a nice surprise. The chicken itself didn’t quite taste like the Portuguese-style we’re used to from Toronto or Cambridge. The Piri Piri sauce was flavorful but darker and spiced in a way that didn’t remind us of traditional Portuguese flavors. The rice also seemed different, almost like it had turmeric in it. The fries were good.
