To start, I had the pleasure of trying their signature appetizer, the Dynamite Shrimp. The crispy shrimp tossed in a tangy and flavorful sauce were a burst of savory goodness in every bite, leaving me eager for what was to come.

Read moreSo my friend and I went here after a movie on a Thursday evening. Arrived at about 8:45 PM. We ordered a couple of appetizers to share. And we wanted to order drinks. My choice was a blue margarita, which came as a 1.5 or 3 ounce size. I was discussing with my friend which one I should get and I had decided on the 3 ounce because we were just having one. but I was so rushed and the waitress left so quickly that she didn’t ask and I didn’t get an option. I had no idea what was coming. The food was tasty but the drink tasted like chemicals and sugar which I guess it probably was and was to be expected since it was blue. At about 9:40 PM, the server came over for last call. Like last call…at 9:40 PM. Luckily we weren’t having more anyway. Five minutes later she came over and asked if we wanted one or two bills. We weren’t finished. At that point my friend said “are you closing at 10 PM by chance?” and she said “yes we are”. And my friend said “so we have to get out by 10 PM?” and the server said “well not right at 10 PM on the dot but ya”. And then she went on to tell us that the place was dead all day and everybody decided to come in between 9 and 10 PM. It’s a huge place and we were the only ones in there, so that’s telling. might want to make people feel welcome so you can fill that place up a little bit. Then she grabbed my drink and removed it so quickly that I didn’t have time to say that I’m clearly not finished. I have never felt this rushed before…except maybe at a fast food place, which that’s where you’d expect it. I’m always very thoughtful about not going into a restaurant just before they close, etc. Most restaurants show a closing time but that’s usually when the kitchen closes, they don’t rush you out, but they were putting plastic covers over all the bar bottles while we were still eating our meal, so we choked that down pretty quickly. It’s a hard pass for me going forward. This is one of the reasons I like to stick to independently owned places…they care if...
Read moreWhen we were looking for a place to celebrate our anniversary in the middle of a pandemic we decided to go to Milestones. Why not? It's an upscale chair restaurant, what could possibly go wrong?
As we sat there we overheard one of the servers telling another customer that they had steaks that weren't on the menu - "They're the same steaks they have at The Keg" he proudly announced, letting everyone know they were just cheaper because they don't have a sign out front that says "The Keg". So when our server rolled around we naturally asked about the steaks, and promptly ordered steaks for both of us - my wife went for the seafood topper as well.
Now normally this would be all that was needed to ensure a fine meal. Who doesn't like a nice juicy medium rare steak? Well our steaks came out and they were both cooked properly, but the cuts were definitely not what I would expect from The Keg! My steak had a large chunk of gristle at the end that I was unable to chew, but my wife's was even worse. Upon cutting open her steak about 1/3 of it was gristle, and the whole thing was largely inedible. She's not one to complain, but this was bad enough that when the server asked how it was she said it wasn't great. The manager came out and explained that sometimes the cuts aren't good, and they refired a new steak for her. Well the new steak came out a little bit over (not the end of the world), but still had a portion that was inedible. Fortunately, having finished an appetiser and most of her entree she was no longer hungry so about 1/4 of her 'steak' was left on the plate.
I appreciate that the staff did everything they could to correct the poor food quality, but at a high end restaurant like a Milestones I expect that the chef would have a better idea about the quality of cuts that were received, and would refuse an order that contained such terrible meat. This is the second time I've had issues with steaks at a Milestones, and I don't anticipate there being...
