Ola Bakery has European soul! It's THE place to hang out with friends and family. They are known for their great Portuguese pastel de nata (custard pie) among other pastries to go with your expresso, cappuccino, or any hot or cold drink of your choice. They also offer a small variety of cold and hot sandwiches, piri piri chicken, french fries and salad, not to mention their breads. Oh, may I suggest their hot bifana (pork) sandwich. They're open from 7am to 10pm Sunday-Thursday and 7am-midnight on Friday and Saturday. The place is almost always packed, so if you're in a hurry and expect fast service, you're setting yourself up for a disappointment. For your experience to work effectively on their busiest time, don't go sit at a table immediately and expect somebody to come and take your order instantly. Here's how it's done: you walk in; place your order at the counter and pay for it right there and then, that way you don't have to stay in line again to pay your check at the end of your meal; go get a table and the wait staff will bring your order. The staff works furiously fast and efficiently, so cut them some slack and tip well. When I'm in Hamilton, you're likely to find me there at least once a day, alone or with guests! Go enjoy a taste...

I visited their location yesterday (April 26th) to pick up a cake for a friend's celebration. With just two options left, the staff member recommended the liquor cake—a choice that initially left us hesitant as none of us had tried it before. Encouraged by the enthusiastic guarantee that it was one of their best offerings, we decided to give it a shot, despite the $40 price tag which seemed steep at first.

From the first bite, the cake impressed us deeply. The unique flavors justified the cost, proving to be a delightful surprise. The customer service was another high point; the person who assisted us not only provided quick service but also added a beautifully written message on the cake, which was a lovely touch especially since we arrived close to closing time. The ambiance of the place was inviting, and the cake was beautifully packaged, enhancing our overall experience.

This bakery definitely stands out, surpassing standard offerings from chains like Sobeys and Zehrs. For anyone looking for a unique cake experience, I highly recommend giving their liquor cake a try—it's a memorable treat that’s well worth...

Horrible experience!! If you are looking to buy a cake do not go here as the pictures below will show why... One picture is the actual cake that I order, specifically ask are you able to do it as it is?, the person at the front Sean took my cel, asked the Baker if they were able to do it, and i was advised "YES" I even repeat if you are not able to do it the same please let me know. I sent the picture to Sean to send it to teh baker - Well the other pictures is what I got! Was the communion from my daughter i didnt have another option to keep it, I dont understand how they are able to compromise on something that are not able to fulfill!!!! DO NOT ORDER CAKES FROM HERE .. THEY PROMISE SOMETHING THAT CAN NOT DO.. I do not understand how they can deliver a cake like that.. Thats why when I order soemthing from Nova Era or Caldense, you get what you order... I always heard a good review from here... Never again.. they say the worse review si the power of mouth, well I hope I can help people not to make the same...

A small cute little shop serving up some authentic Portuguese pastries. It has a dim interior with old style decor, makes you feel like you just stepped into the past. The staff there was very friendly and helped point out some of their popular desserts, as there are a lot of desserts displayed it can get overwhelming. They are known for their Portuguese egg tarts so that was an obvious must grab, the staff also recommended their coconut tarts, they had plain coconut tarts and strawberry coconut tarts. We went with the strawberry coconut tarts. I honestly, enjoyed the strawberry coconut tarts more than I did the egg tarts. Highly recommend you checking this place out. Keep in mind, this place is cash only though!

Got a few pastries from here the other day (almond croissant, chocolate croissant and eclair). To keep this short, very disappointed in the quality. The croissant was as dense as a dry brownie. Was very doughy as seen in the picture. This is my second time coming here as I believe in giving businesses a second chance and both have been disappointing. Also, it would help customers coming in to have a debit machine at the least working as not a lot of people carry cash. They do have an atm but expect to dish out another $1.75 charge to use it on top of getting doughy and dense pastries.

We discovered Ola by chance because we had gone to Williams by the Lakeby bus only to discover it was closed for maintenance. So, walking up James St looking for a cafe, we found Ola. It's a lovely cafe, bright and cheerful with nice staff and local ambiance. We weren't going to have anything sweet, but the pastries looked so good we couldn't resist. We were happy to discover they could make us a decaf latte and it was good coffee. Would definitely recommend and will go back when in the area. Just note that there is a small charge for debit transactions under $5, I beleive.
