after reading many reviews about this place, my friend and i decided to try it. her being indian and my being somewhat a descendant of indians provided us the opportunity to sample indian and other south asian dishes from a very young age. after walking into the restaurant for the lunch buffet, we looked around and saw about 6-7 suspended trays/metal containers in which the food was kept. we were then seated by the only attendant and then proceeded to the buffet area. after sampling every dish we both found each to be as disappointing as the one before it (if not even more of a disappointment) the food was atrocious.. i honestly wouldnt feed that to my dog. the food either had no taste or tasted spoilt and bitter. there was no naan on the table and you had to request to have naan brought to you. after which the waiter brought a basket with naan and you were to take a few pieces. he then took the basket away. i was not aware buffets had limits on naan. i was livid with the quality of the food, service and all the hype this restaurant had. if you think this place is good, im telling you now. its a joke. in fact its worse than a joke. i cant even imagine a poorer restaurant than this one. if you like indian food my suggestion to you is try modern india. they have more than 5 times the variety in dishes. they food there tastes good not great but good. and lunch buffet is 10 dollars which is cheap for a buffet. the restaurant itself isnt that bad.considering im very very picky and critical of everything. ONCE AGAIN I SAY : THE FOOD IS GOOD NOT GREAT. but for the price its more than worth it. if you want better tasting food try bombay grill. the quality of the food is the best in regards to indian food that ive had so far. the quantity is lacking but the quality is the best in hamilton. if you read other reviews about various ethnic restaurants, i suggest you look at who writes the review becuz there are ppl writing reviews that dont know the first damn thing abt good tasting food. especially when they have been subjected to the crap that is north american food...
Read morethis restaurant does not check uber delivery drivers ID. someone went into the restaurant and took our food. i called the restaurant and was told it was picked up a while ago and they are only a third party. No. Not good enough. our food was stollen and they wouldn't do anything about it. We don't live far from this restaurant and sometimes i have picked it up myself. Not once did i get asked who i was. the food is ok but service to take care of my problem was dismissive. They have cameras and they know who picked up that order. this all sounds a bit shady to me. After my experience and reading other reviews it seems that a lot of blame goes to skip, uber and other deliveries. so many one star reviews because of this , its hurting your business . may i suggest you stop using these companies and use your own staff to deliver.. at least you and your customers know the food will arrive and in good shape.
In response to the owner saying ( call me ) i did. i called you before i contacted uber or write a review. your answer to me was...... we are a third party. uber buys there food and we buy the food from uber. we are not responsible for the delivery. So does this mean if someone was to get sick from your food that you will blame uber????? You have to take some responsibility for making sure uber or any person picking up food is meant to be picking it up. they must show you there app. your food , your restaurant your business , it seems like your just wash your hands from it. as i said. you have cameras everywhere. i gave you all the details and time and you could have looked to see who stole our food...
Read moreI order food from shehnai on pretty much a weekly basis. The food is quite good, and worth the higher-than-usual prices they charge. However, tonight was the second time in about a month that they didn't send something I ordered (I always get delivery). When I called back to let them know they forgot an item, they told me (for the second time) that it would take too long to send out the item they missed. They tried to rectify the situation by telling me I could get the item for free the next time I ordered, but as they promised that the first time (and never delivered on it), the words rang hollow. If it was something small like naan bread or an appetizer, it wouldn't be that big a deal, but as it was the main meat-dish entree, I'm now left having to cook up a 'main' dish for my family. Their customer service is absolutely sub-par. UPDATE The next time I ordered from Shenai (like I said, the food is great, and I crave it weekly), they remembered my troubles from before, and my food was delivered with a gift certificate. I wasn't looking for money/credit, but I was incredibly impressed that they remembered me even though I didn't mention anything. Shenai has my full forgiveness - everyone makes mistakes, but how you correct them speaks volumes. It meant a lot to be remembered. Besides - this is the best Indian food in Hamilton - I'd keep ordering from them even if their service was...
