Staropolskie Delikatesy isn’t just a deli—it’s one of the last true old-school gems in Hamilton. The quality of the food? Next level. Everything tastes homemade because it actually is. This place reminds me of what delis used to be—authentic, generous, and made with heart.

I grew up in Hamilton and now live in Burlington, but I still make the drive just for a sandwich from Teresa, who is an absolute sweetheart and hands down makes the BEST sandwich you’ll ever eat. It’s not even close. And once you try one, you’ll know what I mean.

The schnitzels? Unreal. Perfectly crispy and seasoned. The potato pancakes? OMG—absolutely mind-blowing. 🤯 This isn’t fast food—it’s comfort food made the right way, with real ingredients, real care, and a real soul behind the counter.

I will start by saying this was not a positive experience for us so I will be delicate in my wording. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt and as this place holds nostalgia for me I gave it more chances than are warranted. We went in to get some mixed sandwiches and we waited at the meat counter while several minutes and staff would look at us and continue their work. Btw there was no line up. We waited for several minutes with no acknowledgement aside from side glances. Another customer approached the counter and the staff member immediately stopped what she was doing and jumped to assist him. Hello I would like to tell you that I came in to buy some cold cuts fresh bread etc.. But when I seen the staff wearing the masks under their nose or not on their face, or what really upset me is two people were cutting fresh bread with their bare hands with No Masks, NO MASKS and I at that time just bought two or three things that are sealed and took off. I do not know how this place receives good ratings I think it's all made up fake because these people were not professional at all, especially the lady with the big white hair I assume she's the owner or something like that but yeah not wearing mask at all, means no business from me.
