I recently revisited The Himalya Restaurant, once one of Hamilton’s most beloved dining spots, only to be utterly disappointed. This establishment used to be a cherished favorite, celebrated by locals, friends, and family alike for its fresh and flavorful food. Unfortunately, this place has transformed into a shadow of its former self, with quality standards that have plummeted shockingly low. My recent experience was so disheartening that it’s hard to believe this is the same restaurant I’ve recommended for years. And it’s not just my opinion—many people in the community are echoing this sentiment.

To start with, the food was a disaster. Despite the restaurant’s claim that the food was freshly prepared, what I brought home was far from fresh. As soon as I tasted it, I was shocked by how hard and unpalatable it was, with an off-putting, stale flavor that was nowhere near what I remembered. My guests, who were equally disappointed, refused to eat any more after just a couple of bites, leaving me embarrassed to have served this at a gathering. Sadly, the entire meal was tossed out.

The decline in food quality wasn’t the only issue. Walking into the restaurant, I was immediately met with a terrible odor that permeated the entire space. This was entirely different from the clean and inviting atmosphere I remembered from past visits. The smell was so unpleasant that it was hard to ignore, making the dining experience uncomfortable from the start. The combination of stale ambiance and disappointing food made for a truly miserable experience.

After over six years of loyalty, I’m heartbroken to say that I will never be returning to The Himalya Restaurant. It’s hard to believe how drastically it has fallen, and I can no longer recommend it to anyone. In fact, I would strongly encourage someone else to open a new establishment that values quality over quantity—Hamilton...

I recently visited The Himalaya Restaurant in Hamilton for takeout, and I’m absolutely thrilled with the entire experience! As a pure vegetarian restaurant, they truly excel in delivering authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine. I placed a substantial order including samosas, vegetable and paneer parathas, soya chaap (both tandoori and malai varieties), motichoor ladoo, and kalakand. The lady who took my order was incredibly sweet, polite, and respectful throughout the entire process. Her excellent customer service really stood out - she was so kind that she offered me a complimentary masala chai with my large order! Now, let’s talk about the food - WOW! Every single item was bursting with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. The taste was so incredible that when I shared the food with my family and friends back in the US, one person couldn’t resist finishing an entire soya chaap in one sitting, and another family member was still enjoying it at midnight! If you’re in Hamilton, Ontario, and craving authentic Punjabi food, The Himalaya Restaurant is an absolute must-visit. The combination of exceptional food quality, generous portions, and outstanding customer service makes this place truly special. Highly...

The best Indian Vegetarian food I have had in Canada and infact in India too.

This is pure homestyle vegetarian food that one would find in North India.

I had the Vegetarian Thali. It has 6 items in total. The Rice (Pulao), Roti, Dal Makhani, One dry vegetarian dish (This was Carrot, Peas and Potato) and One gravy vegetarian dish (Paneer Mutter or Paneer & Peas) and Raita (Curd and Boondi). All the above 6 items were great ! The 2 Vegetarian dishes tasted like you were eating it straight from the kitchen of a traditional home in Northern India. $13 dollars for the thali is a great deal !

I also ordered 6 Samosa to take away with me. These Samosa's were the best I have had. $1.25 for each samosa. and I also asked for a single Rasmalai. The Rasmalai was divine !!!

The owners are very attentive and offer you the best quality Indian vegetarian food at fantastic prices. Simi was really helpful and quick.

All in all this is a MUST VISIT vegetarian place to visit in Canada, definitely a zillion times better than the vegetarian places in Brampton, Mississauga or even Toronto. Make a trip here, you...
