Wok Around Chinese Food — Restaurant in Hamilton

Terrible restaurant with very poor customer service. We went here on new years eve. We understood it was busy so they gave us a 1.5 hour turn around. We got there on time and we had to wait another 1 hour. New orders would come in and they'd give false times on them as well. They did not know how to handle the demand despite being in business for quite sometime. On top of it all, one of the staff members, a female was extremely rude to others. Her frustration was through the roof and started to complain about the orders from Uber eats, skip the dishes and door dash. At one point she started to yell at the Skip the Dishes guy because he took off for another run. Why wouldn't he? He isn't going to sit there for hours!!! Everyone in the restaurant was upset about the behavior. Some were waiting over 2 hours for their meal. Some asked for discounts and instead they got some chicken balls. Not to mention, they originally say they can accommodate people with allergies or autoimmune issues such as gluten. That's not true, they can't at all. They also have MSG in their food and can't give you anything without it. The only thing they can do is not add more MSG. I'd stay away form this place. I believe the person who was being rude is the same person that responds to the social media posts on here. In terms of the food taste, it was below average at best. I'd compare it with Manchuwok in the malls. Some things like the beef tenderloin was the worst I've ever had. It didn't taste like tenderloin at all, extremely tough and very large,...

Just spent almost $40.00 via Door Dash for food delivery from this place which of course includes taxes, Door Dash Service Fees, Delivery, and Tip. So one expects at least quality food. I'm appalled by the quality of food and I can predict a cut and paste response; which is for me to contact them. No, you have my number, you contact me. Woo Hip Har (Butterfly Shrimp) Tai Dop Voy and 1 Wonton Soup with BBQ Pork. I had the soup which included 2 slices of BBQ pork. The Tai Dop Voy was standard. The Woo Hip Har is the worst I have ever had. Layers and layers of the totally wrong super greasy batter. The batter on Woo Hip Har is supposed to be light. I couldn't even cut through it. It was so thick and hard as rock. I had to tear and break through 3 of them, just to be able to try and consume them. The grease was just dripping off of my hands. Amazing food at an amazing price. Worth the drive across the city for this place! Update Dec 2022: On our travels we try other Chinese food places and it really allows us to appreciate what we have right here at home. Wok Around has the best Chicken Balls, Wings, Rice, and General Tao hands down. Update March 2024: Still have not had better Chinese through our travels. I think we are going to stop trying other places while we are out of town. We will just wait till we can enjoy Wok Around when we are done vacation.
