As someone who really wanted to support a local Vietnamese and Korean place, I was sadly disappointed. Previous commenters have written about a lack of flavour in the pho and watery broth, but I ignored that as the opinion of a few disgruntled customers. I ordered taro bubble tea, the beef satay pho, and Korean veggie appetizer. While the bubble tea was among the best I've had with a rich, caramel flavour, and the appetizer was passible without proper dipping sauce, just soy sauce, the true disappointment was the pho. I have never purchased a less flavourful bowl. This is keeping in mind that the restaurant does not use MSG; I am considering this in my review. First, the pho came without basil leaves or hoisin sauce. I thought, ok, strange, but I can do without. But that was just the beginning. Instead of being spicy, the soup was bland. It had a lemon flavoured oil drizzled on top that made the soup sweet rather than savoury. As a lover of spice, I took matters into my own hands and slathered spurts of sriracha into the pho, but even that desperate measure could not save the soup. The noodles, too, weren't tasty, and the beef had come pre-cooked rather than cooking in a steamy hot broth. As a pho lover, the restaurant won't see me return as a repeat customer. Their bubble tea, however, might be worth another visit on a hot day. Overall, the restaurant has to work on its pho flavours...
Read morePho house used to be our favourite local restaurant. Used to be very good service and very good food. We order every single week. Service, food and wait times all of a sudden went downhill. Went there last Friday and waited for more than 30 mins and the food was not as good as it used to be. We didn’t mind the waiting and probably it was just one of those days for them. But tonight was the most disappointing of all. Ended up canceling our orders after more than an hour of waiting. The server was very rude, instead of apologizing or explaining why our food is taking forever and why she kept serving the customers who came 20 mins after us she just kept saying I can’t do anything about it and you should have made your reservations. After waiting for more than an hour for our food, she told us that we should have made our reservations. I asked her if I can just talk to the person in charge if she can’t do anything expect for being as rude as she was. Instead she said that the one in charged doesn’t want to go out. Found out the one in charged was the new owner. Spoke to him he seemed to be a nice guy, it would be nice to support local businesses but not if the server is rude and customer service is the least of...
Read moreThey serve Vietnamese and Korean cuisine, which is quite interesting to me, so we decided to eat here.
We noticed that it is not just Vietnamese and Korean food. They also offer Taiwanese bubble tea, Hong Kong style egg waffles and more on their menu.
We ordered the Beef Special Pho. They mentioned that their Vietnamese beef broth is MSG-free. It came with beef steak, brisket and beef balls, along with onions, spring onions, cilantro and Vietnamese rice noodles. Even though I ordered the small portion, it was still filling enough for us.
The Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli was a Vietnamese rice noodle bowl without soup. The chicken was well-seasoned with lemongrass and was not overly salty. The bowl also included cucumbers, carrots, and lettuce, which could be mixed with the sweet dipping sauce they provided. It also came with spring rolls, offering a choice of veggie or pork flavors.
We also ordered Original Milk Tea and Brown Sugar Milk Tea. They both came with tapioca pearls. I thought they were pretty good for a non-Taiwanese bubble tea shop.
That day, there was only one staff working. She was friendly and nice, even though she had to handle both serving customers and cleaning...
