I had written a review but it is not showing up. My daughter and I were doing a Cape Breton excursion and had driven down from north of Sydney. We got into Inverness around 8 pm and were extremely hungry. We saw the Public House and it certainly looked inviting. However..... that stopped the moment we walked through the door. We were looked at as if we had 2 heads, each. We had originally asked for take out but were told that being seated, in the restaurant, would get us our food quicker. So, sat, we did. It took at least 30 minutes to even get a menu. We ordered quickly so that we would get our food quicker. We asked for an appetizer to come first. An hour later I asked where the appetizer was. No apology, just that it was so busy that it was taking longer (at this point, it was no longer busy). Another 20 minutes and we finally get our appetizer and our order, at the same time. By this time, we were exhausted so asked for our food to be placed into containers. So much for being quicker if we were seated inside the restaurant. 1 hour and 50 minutes to get an appetizer and 2 orders of fish and chips, which by the time we ate them, were cold. I have read other reviews and honestly, I do not know how they stay in business. Worst service, ever, and the food was certainly nothing...
Read moreOn Facebook and on the restaurants website it clearly states that they are not taking reservations this summer. I had called a week before coming to say that I have a group of 15 looking to come on the 22nd, and was told they do not do reservations. I called once again the day of, just to give them a heads up that a large group would be coming, and was told once again that they do not do reservations but they will see what they can do for us when we arrive. Upon arrival, we are told that there is no room for us due to there being a reservation of 14 coming soon. Maybe we were treated this way due to us being a group of young adults or because we were not golfers, either way it’s disappointing that the Public House treats certain customers differently than others. Went and enjoyed a few drinks at Route 19 where they were happy to accommodate us! Perhaps the “public house” should change their name to the...
Read moreWorst food experience ever in Cape Breton. We understand staff shortages and business are not prepared for number of customers, so we were prepared to wait. It is a hot day and have the utmost empathy for working in heat. After over an hour our food arrives, sweet potato fries and salt and pepper wings. The fries were so charred and clumped together they were inedible. The wings were actually not salt and pepper and also charred. We then waited thirty minutes for the bill. Not one time did the server come by to refill drinks. Although it was busy they had five servers and no one in our section was clear why our server wasn’t around much. However, it wasn’t about time, it was the quality of food or lack there of combined with server...
