Worst A&W Experience to date. I am an avid fan of the franchise. So much so that I order from A&W 5 times a week. Usually from the outlet by the Costco, but also at other Kamloops locations and in Merritt and Lillooet. I understand that we all are people and people make mistakes and I'm usually fine with missed ketchup bags or coffee lacking sugars or milk as ordered. This time however everything went wrong from food to service. I'll start with a service: arrived to the join at 10:30-ish am, ordered a Spicy Chicken Burger, sweet fries and Root Beer. I was told that my order will take 5 minutes to prepare (which is cool with me) on speakerphone, and was prompted to park behind the building after paying at the window. I've pointed out that delivery truck is blocking access to parking, to which A&W employee have responded: "Don't worry there's plenty of space there, this guy delivers three times a week I always send people there". I have objected "it [the truck] is too close [to the building]" and pointed at it. A&W employee has responded " Yeah-yeah, just go there" and pointed in the direction of said semi. and I can only assume that she meant putting my car in park directly in front of Drive-through's exit by the dumpsters, because I have had to drive around the building to find an actual designated parking spot. While I can take the blame for this one: maybe I didn't understand directions correctly or didn't notice another way; what happened next was inexcusable of any customer service employee. In order to bring my order said employee had to walk an extra 15-20 feet and that must've hit the nerve, because I got my food delivered with a frown on a face and a callous: "There was enough space there, BUDDY". Now that is jarring by itself, but wait, there's more. Once I've arrived at my work in hopes to enjoy the lunch itself (A&W was very consistent in meeting my expectations on food quality and I always look forward to munching on their food), I've discovered that every item on my order except for root beer was messed up in some way: chipotle sauce was sitting out for a bit and was not consistent in color (you know how mayo turns yellow if you leave it on a plate for a while before washing? Yep, that) Fries were either re-fried or overdone, but the taste was way off. One of the fries had a strong bitter and almost chemical taste, like it's turned and was thrown in the fryer regardless, so I tossed the remainder of fries in the garbage. I still remained hopeful for the Spicy chicken burger. To my understanding these are ordered less than meat burgers and chicken's usually fried fresh, so there's not a lot of room to mess that up. Wrong again :( The buns were toasted with the edge of the bottom bun having a nice shade of carcinogenic black. The chicken's breading was of two different colors: expected orange and worrying yellowish white. It was driest and crunchiest (not in a good way) breaded chicken breast I had in my life. And the cherry on top is the stomach ache I'm getting after a bit under an hour of consuming the... food. I will not visit this joint again for the fear of getting spit in my food, because at this stage this is something to be expected of this place. I think don't think that the employee should face repercussions as much as the person responsible for the Quality Control. They've have failed their responsibility to the customer base spectacularly. I would give the manager of this location a minus 20 review if I could. I ordered through the busy bee company, who gave them the correct order but when the staff at A&W packed up our food they put the wrong order receipt on the bag. So when the delivery service got here we looked at the label on the bag to find the total, it stated it was the completely wrong order. We sent it back and the manager called me and told me it was the right order but their staff had put the wrong label on the bag. She then proceeded to tell me that our order now had to go in the garbage because it would be cold and that it was our fault for not looking in the bag. Her tone was condescending and demeaning and she out right told us that the customer is bot always right and that it was my fault. I go to this location every day after work.
