Blue Fish Sushi — Restaurant in Kamloops

Crazy boy roll was covered in a huge pile of hickory sticks...?! Very strange. I decided to try it (who knows, might be good)... Nope. Strange flavour combination, made it taste very processed. Scraped off the hickory sticks and it was better, but all the tempura crunchies were at the bottom and didn't stick to the sushi pieces so I had to spoon them onto each piece. Seafood Crunch roll was ok. Seaweed salad on top was ok, only tasted like sesame oil though. Topping was not particularly flavourful. Dynamite roll was average, nothing special compared to anywhere else. Veggie Sunomono salad had beautiful veggies on top but vinaigrette was really sweet with very little vinegar, so it wasn't as tangy as I like it. If you've never been to Blue Fish Sushi definitely add it to your try list. First off the atmosphere is delightful, walking in the building smells clean and comfortable, the choice of music is relaxing and the tables are private.

The food quality is top notch. The filling to rice ratio in the rolls is perfect giving you plenty of fish. Its super fresh too! Every piece if salmon i ordered had beautiful marbling and tasted delicious! The miso soup was refreshing and the sashimi was to die for. Every piece of food was artfully plated and picture perfect. I felt as though I ate a lot of food but I didn't leave bloated.

Pricing was average and for the quality you received it feels like a steal! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and successfully maintained covid measures.

We really enjoy this restaurant, and the service is fantastic. We ordered takeout: the roll tray, with two extra bc rolls, yam tempura and seaweed salad (all of which tasted great and was presented beautifully!) but when we returned home we discovered that the two extra rolls were missing as well as the tempura.

As we were wondering what to do, they actually called us themselves to apologize for forgetting to give us the second bag of items, and they offered us a few items on the house or a credit for next time to make up it. I just thought the way they handled it was really great and deserved a review, because usually in these circumstances the onus seems to be put on the customer. It was clear they wanted to make it right and we were appreciative.
