It was the first time I had the chance of utilizing Ayesha's Kitchen's services for a family gathering, and probably my last. The reason: their total miscommunication. They won't tell you this at the time of the booking, but it is probably the only place in Edmonton that charges you per head for the number of people you reserved, instead of the number of people that actually turn up. Also, it was surprising for us to know that they carge full for children above 6 years (despite the fact that they hardly eat anything), yet we nonetheless agreed to it, as its their business, and their rules.
So, at the time of booking, we booked for 46 adults, 13 children 6+ of age, and 13 babies requiring high-chairs (we over estimated, so that we don't run into a surprise of not enough chairs at the time of the event). In fact, even at the booking time, we were told that our guests would be counted at the day of the party, and the final numbers and cost would then be generated. On the actual day, because of COVID, only 38 adults could turn up, with 9 children less than 6 years of age and 8 babies requiring high-chairs. However, to our astonishment, we were slapped with a bill for 50 adults and 10 children less than 6. The reason? They told us that they charged a flat rate for 50 guests when booking the entire hall, no matter how many turned up (it was the first time we came to know about this rule of theirs, also the first time I realized it was possible to pay "per-head" for people not even coming), and that "its the rule EVERYONE in Edmonton. Also, they told us it was OUR loss that our guests couldn't join for being sick, and not their concern. Finally, they don't even bother giving food for the guests you pay for "per head", but don't come. Altough I do understand that we were utilizing space when they booked the entire hall for us, we would have appreciated had they communicated it to us, so we would have made necessary arrangements or not taken their services altogether when we ran short of 50 people by 8 guests. I would gladly have paid for 50 adults or some fee for booking their entire hall, if they had informed me of their rule beforehand or had some sort of policy in place. In fact, I later came to know that in another instance, they also charged for all 4 people (husband, wife and 2 parents) per booking (people I personally know), despite both the parents not able to come due to falling sick.
To be honest, I had no trouble with the quality or quantity of food, but I would have had similar services at another place costing me less, and served with honest customer service. In short, not only was this my last time having business with them, none of my social circle members would now even think of utilizing their services, because of their miscommunication, lack of consideration for the guests' mishaps, and a total absence of...
Read moreSorry to say but horrible experience. I had a 2 year old, and a 5 year old with me. And 4 adults. I called before going to ask about kids charge as they dont eat much at all. They told me on the phone if the 2 year old is small and in a high chair, which she was, she was free. I got seperate menu item for my 5 year old because she doesn't eat either. Literally had my 2 chicken strip and fries left over. She ate half strip. When I got the bill, they charged me $14 for THE 2 YEAR OLD WHO HAD 4 STRANDS OF NOODLE AND 1 SMALL PC OF CHICKEN AND 2 CUBES OF WATERMELON. THATS INSANE. I went to ask about it and their explanation was that they thought when I said 2 year, they thought it was a baby!??!?!?! What!! What 2 year old is a baby?? Horrible. They should atleast have courtesy to take her off the bill as THEY were the one who failed to inform the customer if no charge wouldn't apply to her. They could've easily shared the menu item separately ordered. After I told them next time they should inform customer, the lady said next time u should let us know if she eats food from buffet!?!? That's not on the customer. Either state charge regardless of age bcuz even 1 year old eats solid food. Shame on u guys. Not to mention the food was not good at all as well. The chicken Manchurian was cold. The chicken tikka dry. Everything only 2/10. Requested water 3 times.. never got it, even to the end. Got naan after asking 2 different times. Worst dinner I've ever had. Literally never returning and wouldn't recommend ANYONE to come. Can't condone a business who hides charges like...
Read moreExtremely Disappointed with Ayesha’s Kitchen
We visited Ayesha’s Kitchen yesterday for their Saturday buffet. Before heading out, we called to confirm the timings and made a table reservation. However, upon arriving at 7:20 PM, we were told by a staff member that they could no longer accommodate buffet customers after 7:15 PM.
I explained that we had driven 40 minutes from the north side of the city and had called ahead to confirm our visit. Her response was, “We were doubtful you would come.” Seriously? A five-minute delay, after such a long drive, was too much for them to accommodate?
To make matters worse, the restaurant was completely empty—there wasn’t a single customer dining. The buffet was advertised to be available until 8 PM and restaurant was open till 9 PM, yet they refused to serve us.
It felt like being subjected to some kind of rigid, military-like rule, where losing customers didn’t seem to matter. Shockingly, the owner was present at the counter but didn’t bother to address the situation or offer any resolution. While the staff offered to serve us à la carte, we declined, as we specifically came for the buffet.
We’ve visited numerous restaurants across the city and have never encountered such unaccommodating behavior. For a buffet scheduled to run until 8 PM, arriving at 7:20 PM should have been well within reason. This was, by far, the worst customer service...
