Let me start off by saying....the entire dining experience was just beyond terrible. ..
Our adventure starts by a 10 person booking planned well in advance for a dear friend’s birthday.
Show up 5 minutes prior to our reservation, the greeters were nice.
First noticed that the entire restaurant was boiling hot. I guess at an average price of 30 dollars+ a head, they cannot afford to circulate the air for the patrons. Or even have conditioned air. But I digress as things got far worst.
We we're seated in what only felt like the back hick side of the restaurant, where nobody wants to see or serve you. After about 5 minutes we finally have someone at our table asking and inquiring as to drinks and appetizers.
We start off with several appetizers...which took nearly an hour....You'd think they were out gathering the food at this point before even cooking it. We continue to boil...the cold stale bread arrives...in our disgust as we rub the cold butter on our stale bread, we pause and question why are we staying? The server then drops off some vinegar dip and explains the bread is a few hours old hence why it is stale and cold and apologizes. We march on in the hopes that our mains would keep us happy and satisfied.
We submit our main orders. The food arrives another 40 minutes later, in waves to our table...at this point we are hot sweaty and hungry. Oh and did I mention the gross flies, buzzing about where we were seated? The flies were all over us. Landing on our food, spreading disease, buzzing away at our heads. Us swinging away, fun times...
We start to dig in. More than half our table ordered some sort of seafood pasta dishes, in which they noticed shells. Of course the food is inedible...but they tried a few bites nonetheless. The folks that had ordered salmon or steak....mmm...tasted like someone water blasted the protein and then continued to sear it until it looked like it was edible. Then slapped some toppings on it with a few side items & with some watered down sauce. Everything was inedible...no seasoning and no flavor.
After a bite or two...our server comes back to check in, we bring these issues to their attention. They advise the manager will need to be notified...5 minutes later, he shows up and inquires as to why we are dissatisfied...only pointing and directing his conversation to one of the persons at our table. When indeed there were several that have terrible dishes. We try to ask and come up with a resolution, the manager then turns and points to each of us and berates us asking, “So you now are also having issues with your dish huh???” His condescending big head attitude made us really unhappy.
We advised this was not just now and from initially receiving our mains. We experienced issues straight away and advised our server as such...We even stated that we would still pay and we just wanted them to be aware, so they can try to improve. In a huff he ran off and just ignored us...long story short...this place was garbage at its finest. Instead of owning up and offering a solution and to try to keep us as customers...the manager runs off and leaves us with almost a full bill.
What a fun experience...do yourself a favor and stay away. They ruined what should have been a wonderful...
Read moreFood here used to be amazing and the restaurant used to have amazing, high quality service but in the past couple years there has been a steady decrease in service quality and food quality. The waitress we got (yes it was a busy night being New Year’s Eve) was almost never at our table and when we asked for a single refill of water it took roughly 15 minutes for it to come around. After that the appetizers, which was ordered 20 minutes ago, came out great. Their “Polpetta” is the only saving grace this restaurant has going for it. Then after another 45 minutes of waiting for a simple dish of fettuccine Alfredo (they use cooked chicken waiting to be used in a smoker) the chicken came out cold and more bland then mashed potatoes adding zero flavour to the meal itself, and to top things off, the crème sauce was super oily literally soaking the bottom of the dish creating a swimming pool. Back to the service, the waitress was busy and I understand that it was very hectic, but she was being rude and very distasteful. Usually it’s customary to ask their customers for Parmesan cheese and pepper, but was only offered Parmesan after witnessing others, before and ahead of us, get asked if they wanted pepper. Finally, when we discussed all the issues she responded with negotiations about not taking it off the bill even though I had only 7-8 bites of my meal just so the 18% gratuity fee can be bigger for herself. It’s clear to me the owners of the restaurant don't care about who they hire and don’t give a damn about how their employees treat their customers as this has been actively happening every, single, time I’ve come in the past two years and am very upset as I used to be an avid enjoyer and would always leave wanting to come back for more. And now instead of this restaurant giving me the feeling of wanting to return, this establishment makes me want to never come back. Never going here again. Would rather Olive Garden...
Read moreThis is my first time at the Sicilian Pasta Kitchen South. My wife has been there several times.
We shared an appetizer of mussels. It was called Cozze Allla Gorgonzola. It was a “large bowl of P.E.I. mussels in a gorgonzola cream sauce”. I normally detest gorgonzola but the hostess assured me you would enjoy it. Well I did, a lot! Our friends shared the Cozze Alla Sicilianna which was also a “large bowl of P.E.I. mussels with garlic, onions, diced tomatoes, white wine and tomato sauce”. They thoroughly enjoyed it too!
My wife had the Ravioli D’astice Con Langoustines which was lobster stuffed ravioli with Langoustines and it had a cream sauce of red pepper with fresh basil. My wife did not enjoy it since the pasta was too thick for her liking. What she had the last time she came here she did enjoy but forgets what it was when I asked.
I had the Vitelli Marsala which is veal scaloppini pan with mushrooms in a Marsala sauce. I enjoyed it and would put it in the same class of a few restaurants I have previously reviewed where I ate this dish.
Our friend had the Pappardelle Con Aragosta which consists of pappardelle noodles with lobster, langoustines, baby spinach and mushrooms in a white wine cream sauce and parmesan cheese. She enjoyed it and would rate it four out of five.
The hostess was very friendly but it seems that there was not enough servers for the number of patrons. Yes, I am aware of the pandemic but when we had to constantly ask for refills or wait a substantial amount of time for desserts it takes away from the meal and the enjoyment of the evening.
Another issue was the sun. I love the sun but when I sit inside I do not expect to be “blinded by the light”. Several of the ladies asked about closing the blinds but was told there were no blinds to close. Hint, if you can’t close the blinds move the patrons.
If the ladies decide to come...
