Today, October 31, 2025, at the Burger King in Lindsay Square Mall around 12:55 p.m., this actually happened to me, and I left feeling deeply uncomfortable. My mom and I did not even eat there. We had only ordered food to bring to someone else, and we sat quietly while waiting for a few minutes. We left after less than five minutes because the atmosphere felt so unpleasant and uncomfortable, and we did not want to take up space or cause any inconvenience. We were being respectful and professional the whole time. I want to start by giving a genuine shout out to the beautiful Indian girl who was having lunch by herself. She was so kind and courteous. When we asked if she was leaving, she smiled and said yes, then cleared the table for us. She showed more manners and warmth than any of the employees working there, which really stood out to me. What a shame that a customer showed more professionalism than the staff, especially when the atmosphere already felt tense and unwelcoming. As a person of colour, I could feel the judgment right away, and I honestly do not recommend this place to anyone who looks different or is a minority because you will likely feel uncomfortable just like I did.
I was born and raised in Canada, and I truly believe that respect and courtesy should be basic values. Unfortunately, what I witnessed here was the complete opposite. The employees had sarcastic and dismissive attitudes, and I could sense judgment the moment I walked in. I have seen how they treat people of colour here, and it is heartbreaking. It feels discriminatory, especially considering that Lindsay is a predominantly white area. Canada is a diverse country built on Indigenous land, and everyone deserves to be treated equally.
When I placed my order, I believe it was number 78. I ordered from the kiosk, which asked for my name but did not give me a confirmation number. The system is unclear and confusing compared to places like McDonald’s. A tall white middle-aged lady called out my order, looked straight at me, and then awkwardly pulled out the slip to read my name aloud. She did not have the correct manner or tone and made me feel uncomfortable, almost as if she thought I was dumb. I literally just ordered a Whopper combo with medium fries and a Nestea, which came to about $14.70 after taxes. McDonald’s and Wendy’s are both cheaper and have much better service.
The younger lady was somewhat better, but it was clear that they only showed friendliness to their regulars, like an older Caucasian gentleman with a cane. The meal was not even for me. I bought it for someone else with my own money, yet I was treated like I did not belong there. That kind of behaviour is unacceptable anywhere, but especially in a place that serves the public.
Burger King used to be decent, but the quality has gone downhill, the service is unprofessional, and the food is overpriced. I do not plan to return to this location ever again. There are many other places nearby that offer better service, better food, and most importantly, basic...
Read moreSo me and my husband went to this Burger King location. We had a guy named Jesse at the counter. As I told him I wanted 2 of the spicy big fish sandwiches meals with mayo cheese and onion. I said I didn’t want tarter he gave me a rude look. And loudly said “oh I’ve never had someone order this without tarter”. I looked at him and I responded with an ok… while the cook in the back was making smart remarks. Saying “how the spicy big sandwich doesn’t come with tarter and why do I need mayo added if it has a spicy sauce on it.” After I ordered I sat down and waited for my order while writing this review. Once my order was ready I had received 2 coke drinks while he never asked me what I wanted to drink. He just assumed. I told him “u never asked us.” And he sarcastically said “oh my bad “ and asked what I wanted. While he was telling someone else he was having a hard day. There is no reason to talk to customers like that. I’ve been in the food industry for 6 years and I’ve had bad days myself. I’ve never acted like that to any of my customers. I’m not sure if this guy was a manager but if he was he needs to act like one because that’s very...
Read moreI've only been here once, passing thru Lindsay on my way to somewhere else. I had a small, quick, cheap, under 500 calorie lunch consisting of a dbl cheeseburger only. I like Burger King's products and this burger was fine as far as taste and freshness goes. Top marks for the sandwich.
The location is a PITA tho. Its in a mall, a long walk from the parking lot. And...I was a bit surprised as the over all price was about 50% higher than my hometown BK. 40 cents more for the basic sandwich ($2.49 regularly, loaded with vegies, but $2.89 here plus an extra 75 cent charge for lettuce, tomato and onion that I'm not usually charged for, which effectively brings the price up to $3.64.) Plus the extra tax on that additional surcharge. It's a small thing but it's a small burger and it was only 1 item. I'm not sure what the extra costs would have been on a larger order. Anyway, it kind of turned me off, especially as the location is not easily accessible.
The Lindsay McDonald's is easier to access, a regular restaurant with a drive-thru, and better coffee options too. I've used McD's on past trips, I'd stick with them...
