Polene Bakery & Bistro — Restaurant in Kelowna

Delightful bakery that has quickly become one of my favourites in the Okanagan. Polene delivers on quality, value, and would top off the coveted trinity of perfection with quick service—if there wasn’t a line up! A cozy retail space worth standing in line outside for.

We ordered the beef brisket sandwich special, a pretzel bagel with herb cream cheese, and a caramel pretzel cookie that others raved about.

Polene does not mess around with portion size. Meat in the sandwich was generous (200g!) and I have never seen a literal SLAB of cream cheese in a bagel before. Fillings, combined with bread from their sister brand Alchemy Bread, made for a flavourful and satisfying meal. All for an incredibly affordable price, even with a relatively downtown location.

The caramel pretzel cookie was a great texture and just the right balance of sweetness, not cloying like what is unanimous of anything caramel.

I recently visited Polene Bakery & Bistro and had a delightful experience. I ordered their Turkey BLT sandwich, which was incredibly delicious and hearty. Packed with generous portions of turkey, crispy bacon, avocado, veggies, and their homemade sauce, every bite was a delight.

I also couldn't resist trying their cookies, opting for the chocolate chip and caramel with salted pretzels. They were massive and absolutely scrumptious, a testament to their commitment to freshness and quality ingredients.

The highlight for me, besides the fantastic food, was the exceptional customer service. The staff were friendly and attentive.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for months—I’ve been a fan of Alchemy sourdough since we first discovered it in a restaurant. Delicious and consistent. We are delighted that they have a storefront now—and fresh rye bread on Wednesdays! The rye is outstanding. It is really difficult to bake a 100% rye loaf that isn’t dry and crumbly, but theirs is perfect! Slightly sour, great crust, moist and so flavourful.
