Stopped by Rocket Subs and tried the Rocket Trio for $13 and I added tomato which was + $1 â ham, turkey, pepperoni, German butter cheese, shaved red onion, mayo, sub sauce, and shredduce. The flavours were well-balanced and the ingredients tasted fresh.
For the bread, they are using sub buns from Kelowna Specialty Bakery.
Definitely leaps above your standard sub chain!
I arrived 5 minutes ahead of opening and it took about 25 minutes from opening to get my order. The atmosphere was relaxed and it was cool to hear everyones excitement to try the place out for the first time. The team seem to be focused on doing things right, not just fast.
You can customize your sub a bit (except for the daily special, which you can't even remove items). They do charge $0.50 to $1 to add tomato, and other basics like pickles, onions, and banana peppers, which I hoped would be included in the price. That said, I get charging extra for premium toppings like Calabrian chilli spread, muffuletta mix (olive, mushroom, artichoke mix), pesto, balsamic drizzle, and marinated artichokes â those feel like true add-ons.
One thing I really respected, the owner was totally upfront about food allergies. Since it's a small and new-ish business, they canât guarantee no cross-contamination and actually advise people with severe allergies not to order (in this case the customer had a severe nut allergy). That kind of honesty and care isnât something you see everywhere.
All in all, a great sub, good vibes, and a team that clearly puts quality first. Iâll definitely be back to try some more Rocket Subs and I'll make sure to grab a banana pudding next...
Read moreTried their flagship sub today for $14, the "Morty". Was it good, yes. Did it sear into my memory as a place Iâll be bringing all that visit me in the summer, as a, OH Iâve got to take you here!? No. I found the value, based on the size, taste, to price, didnât quite match up. I found the sub on the small side, and lacked connecting flavor bomb punch, for what you pay. That being said, would I go back? Maybe, once or twice a year, just to change things up once in a while. Will it be my new âgo toâ sub place? Unfortunately no. But to be clear, they are higher on the list than others, but Iâm still stuck on the value factor. A couple other sub shops have a greater âwowâ, flavor bomb, and larger subs for the price, thus greater, over all, âvalueâ, for me. Only my opinion based on my personal palette. So that doesnât mean Iâm right for every palette. You may think itâs the best thing since, well, you know. So, I would definitely suggest you try them out, because they may blow you away. And I hope they do, because I love seeing local businesses succeed!! And the guys there seem to really love what they are selling and I wish them nothing but success!! Nobody is ever all things for all people, and Iâm...
Read moreSandwich Daddy here, and let me tell you, Rocket Subs in Kelowna has me fully loaded! This place isnât just a sandwich shopâitâs a temple to sub-lovers, and Justin and Brandon are absolute sub studs, slicing and stacking like Michelangelo with a deli slicer. These guys know how to handle their meat, and trust me, theyâre working with footlong energy.
Every bite here is an explosion of flavour. The bread? Soft but firm, the perfect cradle for their juicy fillings. The meat? Piled higher than my dreams, seasoned to perfection. These subs donât just satisfyâthey rock(et) your world. I was blown away, pun fully intended.
Iâd wager even that nice old Asian guy who passed out atop Coit Tower last year would be revived by the sheer majesty of this place. One bite of their Italian Stallion, and heâd be standing tall, ready for another round.
Five stars for Rocket Subsâwhere every sandwich is a work of art, and Justin and Brandon prove that when it comes to subs, size and flavour matter. Sandwich...
