We have been into the Stonefire twice now. The first time the food wasn't that great, it lacked flavor and was very salty. Today though it was amazing. We ordered bring home the bacon pizza and the crust was nice and thin, was loaded full of flavor and nothing was to salty. The food was just excellent we were really impressed. But doesn't matter how good of food a restaurant has if the service is terrible it just ruins the hole experience and meal and I will say from last time and this time the Stonefire has terrible service. Today our servers name was Andrea and there was nothing quick or good about her service, well except for the first 2 mins when we sat down and she brought us water and menus. We ordered our food right away since we already knew what we wanted to eat and then waited for her to come back to take our drink order. After watching her walk by us 5 times ruffly 15mins of waiting my wife stopped her and said we are ready to order drinks well a drink cause she won't come back anytime soon to ask if you want another one but the Ceasar was descent. We where happy to finally see our food show up and thankful there was nothing wrong with it cause again she vanished after dropping the food off and didn't show up till we were almost done to see how it was tasting and if we needed anything. Well it was a little late but a nice gesture I guess. After we were done I was happy to see someone else quickly come over and clean off our table and bring us our bill. Overall the food was good this time around but the service was terrible. Oh and if anyone's wondering she got a big fat $0 for a tip. Oh and it was dead...
Read moreMy sisters drove from Saskatchewan for a short visit. All three of us are Celiac and after researching GF options and we decided to try Stonefire. Settling on the deck and identified ourselves as Celiac needing extra care with food handling and preparation to prevent cross contamination. My sister made it clear we'd become very sick if exposed to gluten. Our waiter said the crust was made from cauliflower and sauces were a safe option. He made a trip to the kitchen to double check pasta dish ingredients and orders were confirmed. Margherita pizza, Grape pizza and Salmon GF pasta dish. After consuming the meal my sister questioned if pizzas were GF [not marked as such on the receipt], the young lady gave an indifferent shrug. Her severe reaction started before she made it back to Cranbrook. I'll spare the details but her night was spent on the bathroom floor. Second sister had a delayed reaction, waking in the night with her version of gluten poisoning. Recovery after exposure can take days, and she lost the better part of a two day trip confined to the hotel. The next day I phoned asking for the manager. He didn't take my call nor did he return it despite the message two patrons became ill at his restaurant. I'd hoped to discuss how this might have happened so staff could be better educated in food safety. Total disregard and indifference! I'll add one sister travels extensively around the globe and this is the only time she has experienced gluten poisoning. Good job Stonefire! I hope this review alerts people about what goes on...
Read moreWe went to the restaurant second time on Friday May 17 around 6:30pm. That's our a second time although we have been coming to Kimberley often - we have a condo there. Our first time was a fairly good experience. The pizzas were tasty, the artichoke dip appetizer was delicious. Service was so so but it was busy so we understood. However, our second time will be the last. Like many negative reviews, the restaurant was half full but we had to wait for 20 minutes for the appetizer to arrive - how long does it take to heat up a dip and throw in some crackers? That's okay, we were not in a hurry. For two pizzas and a pasta we had to wait for another half an hour. It's a little unusually slow. But we were still patient until the food came out. The pasta was hot and tasty but the pizzas were not even warm!!! How come? ten steps from the hot oven and they were already this cold? When we asked the waitress to come see them she seemed to have known the problem. She asked if we would want them to make "fresh ones"(?). Another 50 minutes? We said no. The problem did not stop there. Like in some previous reviews, it seemed the restaurant had run out supplies. For the pineapple pizza, you would have to look closely to find each wedge had a tiny piece of pineapple at a corner and few curled pieces of meat "dancing" on the top. The other pizza was a little better but both did not have the greens on top. Yes the crust is awfully thin except around the edges. We just rolled them up, there was very little toppings so that was the way we ate...
