I recently approached Crema Pastry with a rather unconventional request for my daughter's six-month birthday celebration—a semi-circle vanilla-raspberry cake adorned in white and pink hues. Despite facing reluctance from several bakers, Crema Pastry agreed to take on the challenge. While placing the order, I sensed a hint of uncertainty in their demeanor, but they graciously accepted the task.
The following day, I received a call from the baker expressing concerns about the stability of stacking two half-cakes with raspberry filling. Regrettably, they proposed two separate cakes instead. Though disappointed that my original vision wouldn't be realized, I trusted their assurance that the final result would be visually pleasing.
Upon collecting my order, I was utterly surprised by the creation before me. It not only distinguished itself from the other cakes in the showcase but also resembled something akin to a playful Pacman. The delicate decoration of pink and white roses, accented with shimmering beads, exuded an undeniable charm. A visual delight, captured effortlessly in the accompanying photograph.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the cake exceeded my expectations in taste. The incorporation of real raspberry filling, as opposed to the conventional jam, was a delightful touch. The level of sweetness was perfectly balanced, pleasing both the palate and the eye. In the realm of cake decoration, working with a semi-circle undoubtedly presented unique challenges, and I commend the evident dedication and hard work invested in crafting my unconventional request into a work of art.
My guests were equally enamored with the cake, and its deliciousness was a unanimous triumph. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Crema Pastry for not only embracing my peculiar request but also transforming it into a beautiful reality. Thank you for the exceptional service and for making my daughter's milestone celebration...

The stand-out dish at Crema Pastry is definitely the Langos. Fried until a golden crisp, yet airy and soft in the middle, it presents a lovely interplay of textures. It is lightly salted and contrasts delightfully with the sugary top and hint of spice. The combination somehow brings out a taste that pulls one back for more.
Not to be outdone, the Cherry Cheesecake is a dream. The base, dense but crumbly, makes a perfect playground for the lusciously creamy layer of cheesecake sitting above. And in this instance, the cherries are fresh, sour, and pretty abundant, swirled generously through the cheese so that every bite has the fruity punch. The sweetness level is not overdone, and the tartness is proportionate enough to balance the two flavors.
Crema Pastry’s attention to detail is evident in both the presentation and quality of their desserts. Each piece is a masterpiece, designed for not only an added treat to the palate but also for the eyes. Read moreWhat a hidden gem! Best pastries I have had yet in K/W! I ordered an éclair that was fresh with great choux pastry and the perfect set to the creme so that you could bite into it and get all the wonderful flavour without squeezing out the sides. I also had a lemon cake square with delightfully tart lemon curd with light fluffy sponge and just the right amount of cream. It was light and dreamy and totally decadent without leaving me feeling heavy or overwhelmed with sweetness.
The thing that most impressed me about the bakery was the friendliness of the staff and the obvious pride they took in their work. After I asked a few questions trying to decide what to sample they insisted on adding 4 smaller cookies to let me sample a wider variety of the wares, and each of them was delicious including crunchy little chocolate dipped meringue circles and small crescent cookies filled with plum jam. Everything was made from scratch and you could taste the freshness!
Fortunately I had a friend tell me about the place because it is so out of the way I would never have found it on my own. It is in the Forest Hill Center but if you enter the main parking lot you will likely miss it because it is tucked in the back corner. Park in the side lot on Stonybrook Drive and you can't miss it.
Also be aware they are only open Wednesday to Friday from Noon to 6pm and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm. It is odd hours but...
