"Samosa Bar" is a quaint and cozy little gem that brings a rustic, outdoor picnic vibe inside. The decor is charming, with unique lighting that features ropes and light bulbs, adding to the rustic ambiance. The seating is casual and comfortable, resembling a picnic setup with wide-bottomed stools that swivel, offering both comfort and a great view of the street and parking lot—perfect for catching a beautiful sunset while you enjoy your meal.
Ambiance: The place feels like a comfortable retreat, where you can relax and enjoy a meal that feels homemade. The decor is simple yet thoughtful, making it a great spot to unwind. It’s a spot where you can bring friends or family for a casual, laid-back experience. The outdoor-indoor vibe combined with the rustic touches make it feel warm and inviting.
Food: The samosas here are the star, with six different varieties on offer. I tried the chef's special, and it brought back memories of home-cooked meals. The samosas are perfectly made, soft, and tender with innards that are flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy. The spices are balanced just right, with a subtle kick that creeps up, enhancing the overall experience without overpowering the flavors.
What stands out is the lack of oily aftertaste—something that’s often a concern with fried snacks. Paired with the red and green chutneys, both of which are excellent, the red chutney leans towards sweetness, perfect for those with a sweet tooth, while the green chutney has a balanced, mild spice that complements the samosas beautifully.
Service: The owner is incredibly friendly, calm, and respectful, providing informative suggestions based on your spice tolerance. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned samosa lover, the service is welcoming and tailored to make sure you have the best experience possible.
Value: For a quick, delicious snack, the value is unbeatable. At a dollar per samosa, it's a great deal, and if you're catering a big party, you can order in bulk and save even more with discounts for larger orders. The samosas are filling, and two or three can easily satisfy your hunger without being too heavy.
Perfect for On-the-Go: One of the best aspects of "Samosa Bar" is that the samosas are perfect for eating on the go. They're not greasy, so you can eat them without worrying about making a mess. Whether you're grabbing a dozen to enjoy in the car on a road trip or stocking up for a party, these samosas hit the mark.
Conclusion: "Samosa Bar" is an absolute must-visit if you’re in the mood for something light yet filling. The flavors bring you back to traditional home-cooked meals, and the atmosphere is casual and inviting. With friendly service, great value, and delicious food, it's the perfect spot for a quick snack or a casual get-together with friends and family. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic,...
Read moreEDIT: Revisited it yesterday and was thoroughly disappointed. They've expanded the menu but the quality has dropped starkly since the time they had newly opened. The samosas were oily even though they were freshly made and nothing like the review I have below. It's kind of a rule that the head surface of a samosa should not have bubbles as it is a sign of either a poorly made dough or excessively hot oil, both of which indicate that quality control has gone for a toss. I'd hesitate to visit again until this is corrected.
This place is a pleasant change from all the other samosa joints I've tried in GTA and KWC areas. Most others have a standard model of serving up frozen and reheated fare. It was refreshing to see that they made fresh samosas and served them. The wait was worth it as the samosas served were very tasty and since they were made from scratch they were not oily and didn't have the typical "reheated" smell. They've a few different types of samosas and all of them are good. They told me that the Chef's Special will be spicy but it wasn't really and that's the only gripe I have with them. Since they're ticking all the other boxes, I really wish they give spice lovers like me something to look forward to. They've house fries which are served with their own sauce which are really good too. Last but not the last, their chai was freshly made too and was head and shoulders above what others serve. Now that's the hallmark of a samosa joint. I really hope that they do not change all this. Please do not try to serve the Canadian taste as that'll ruin everything you stand for. Give them a separate menu more suited to their palate but do not, I repeat and request, change what...
Read moreTucked away in a little unpretentious strip mall is a hidden gem called The Samosa Bar! My sister and I popped in for a late lunch and we're immediately helped by Arya who thoughtfully took the time to explain the menu to us. We were blown away by the indepth flavour profile of the food! The chef is not skipping the spices and all of the food we ate was perfectly seasoned. The Samosa Bar Signature Fries are absolutely amazing! The saucy fries are covered in a flavourful sauce made from spices like masala, garlic, chopped fresh scallions (green onions). I tried to get more ingredients from Arya so I could make this at home but he kept the secret - and i will be back just for these awesome fries!
My sister and I shared both the Gujarat Burger and a Bombay Burger - splitting the two between us. We wanted to taste them both! We were not disappointed! Delicious! A true adventure for our taste buds! The only thing we could have wished for was bigger appetites! We are stuffed and the price is on point!
We were so impressed we both wished that they had a Taster Club Menu where we could have had a tiny portion from everything on the menu! We will be back!
Sadly, my sister is from Northern Ontario and will have to wait to visit me before she can eat here again. But I don't have to, I will be ordering...
