Having lived in Bangkok for a number of years, this place was a delight to find after a long search for authentic Thai cuisine.

The food is fresh and flavourful and most dishes hit bright notes. The meal began a little rocky as the deep fried Thai dumplings aka money bags were a little over cooked but crunchy and the sauce was yum. The mango salad could have really rocked with more umami and a tad more of the zing, but the topping and sweetness was spot on.

We also ordered Tom Yum soup which was nice and tangy. It was full of goodness such as chewy wood ear mushrooms, chicken, green onions and spice.

The main course was the real winner. Although SOI Thaifoon provides individual platters with rice included, as a family of five, it was ample for us to share as well. We even had enough for leftovers! So portions are BIG. The Basil Beef was so so good. The beef was sticky and juicy and full of lip smacking taste and the basil was not overwhelming. It came in a bowl filled with rice and shredded carrots, fresh avocado and lettuce.

The Pad Thai was smokey and deep. It was missing some of the us suspects such as tofu, dried turnip and garlic shoots but the chicken was soft and the sauce was layered and balanced. It comes with peanuts and a slice of lime. You can adjust the heat to your liking which is nice. They also had a street stall version of Phad Thai which we decided we will try next time.

Our final two main courses included Cashew Chicken (you can however choose your protein to shrimp or beef or vegetarian) and Chilli chicken. Chilli chicken deserves clap and a half as it slaps! The heat creeps up on you but the flavour keeps bringing you back for more until you simply can’t stuff anymore in. The cashew chicken was flooded with cashews and the flavour was subtle and perfect with the steamed rice.

We ordered the Thai Tea bra cause why not? It was really good but on the smallish size for the price. The other two members of our party chose soda.

Definitely check this place out. The family was so happy to have authentic Thai food after so long. The lady at the counter has a lovely welcoming smile and the shy cooks who you can see through the windows overlooking the kitchen churn out some good grub. The quick service ensures the working customer can enjoy a delicious meal in a limited amount of time.

The bill was reasonable for 5 people so no worries on that score.

I’ve had the pleasure of getting food from soi thaifoon 2 times now. The first time, I got the Pad Thai and that blew my mind completely. The portion was so big and the quality of the food was a 100%. One of the best pad Thai I have had ever. The noodles were not soggy and I had 3 servings of left over Pad Thai which I ate for consecutive dinners. I raved about this restaurant to my co-workers and we visited the physical store to try it out again. The second time was even way better - they currently have an offer of BOGO free drunken noodles which my co-workers got and absolutely LOVED. they also LOVED the portion sizes and had ample left overs I got the chili chicken this time around and I was blown away! It has the right amount of spice and heat and the chicken was well cooked. The jasmine rice was very well done. It was a flavourful blend of various tastes. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We also got the mango salad which was sliced in front of us and was super fresh! I didn’t enjoy the cilantro on it because it was confusing so next time I might ask for the salad without the cilantro but it wasn’t bad at all. Will definitely get it again The server/cashier was super lovely and very helpful with explaining the dishes that best fit what exactly I was looking for. She recommended the chili chicken and it was wonderful! The owner was also SUPER SWEET!!! He came out of the kitchen to ask how we found the food and also offered us cutleries and bags when we were leaving with our left overs. I will definitely be patronizing Soi ThaiFoon again and again! And I will be recommending it to friends and anyone willing to listen to be honest. Thank you to the team for such great food and awesome personified services! Keep up the good...

My daughter had an interview here, they told her to stick around for a hour but because they got busy unexpectedly– they kept her for three. Now, if she was told she’d be there that long, she wouldn’t care. She’s a hardworking and driven young woman. She didn’t want me to write this, but I’ll be damned if nobody knows the kind of business this is.

I was anticipating to pick her up around 20 minutes after she got there. I was texting, calling, whatever. I was worried, it had been over and hour before I heard from her, and she told me she was working. I thought “hey she got the job! Nice!” But apparently she was working as a trail run. She told me she got in trouble for getting back to me, as if she had signed a contract and worked there. HA! If she’s kept there longer than she agreed, she has the right to let me know where she is.

After, the owner had the audacity to not tell her anything. They didn’t tell her if she had done a good or bad job, if she had even gotten the job, or if they were moving forward with an applicant. He even said to her “we have your number” as if referencing he would call her with further information. I feel this says a lot about the man running this show.

The owner is so invested with “customer service,” but charges almost $20 for a plate, meanwhile my daughter was told to skimp on portions when providing a decent serving of rice to a dish, and allegedly nobody in the kitchen was wearing gloves. Very basic and mediocre ingredients for most of the food, you could go to the store and make the same meals for a third of the price to eat here. In the famous words of Dave Ramsay “a sure fire way to sink yourself financially is to open a...

Good food + good vibes. Is there anything more you could ask for? Craving some Thai food, I visited Soi Thaifoon (102-345 King St. W. Kitchener, ON N2G 1B8). A warm eatery, named after the Thai word for the side-street branching off from the main street, this place truly captures the coziness and comfort of Thai street food! Onto what we ordered! The Garlic & Peppercorn Stir-Fry with Chicken was a perfect balance of savory and spicy, with tender chicken pieces coated in a fragrant garlic sauce. The cracked peppercorns added just the right amount of heat, complementing the stir-fry's bold, earthy flavors without overwhelming the dish. Fresh vegetables provided a crisp texture, while the medium-spice level left a warm, satisfying kick in every bite. For the other dish, the Bangkok Katsu with Shrimp featured crispy, golden-battered shrimp, perfectly cooked to retain their juicy tenderness inside. The katsu sauce had a sweet and tangy depth, harmonizing with the subtle heat of the medium-spice level, making each bite flavorful yet balanced. A bed of fragrant jasmine rice and a side of fresh herbs completed the dish, adding a refreshing contrast to the rich, crunchy shrimp. With a delightful variety of appetizers, stir-fries, salads, soups, curries, and desserts, along with refreshing smoothies, Soi Thaifoon ensures there's something for everyone to enjoy. With locations in Kitchener and Toronto and an upcoming one in Oakville, this eatery promises good food and good vibes in every setting, so it's no surprise that we highly recommend this restaurant!
