I was surprised to learn that this establishment refuses to provide customers with tap water. In Québec, all restaurants are required under the Règlement sur les aliments and the Règlement sur la qualité de l’eau potable to have a source of potable (safe, clean drinking) water for food preparation, dishwashing, and hygiene.
If a restaurant cannot or will not serve a simple glass of tap water, it raises a serious question: can they actually guarantee that the water they use to wash dishes and prepare food is potable and meets public health standards?
