Winfield Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Lake Country

We ordered from here last night as we had a craving for Chinese. Overall, the food wasn’t terrible but it certainly wasn’t great. We ordered 5 dishes for our family of 4 to share: 2 Chicken Chow Meins, Shredded Ginger Beef, Honey Garlic Pork and Kung Pao Chicken. Our order cost $80 which was quite expensive compared to other take out options (like Made in India).

The Chicken Chow Mein was quite dry and bland. It was just plain noodles with pieces of boiled chicken on top and needed soy sauce to have any flavour. The Kung Pao chicken wasn’t what we’re used to... we expected breaded deep-fried chicken in Kung Pao sauce, but we got chunks of boiled unbreaded chicken with unidentifiable veggies and cashews in an odd tasting sauce. It kind of smelled like feet. The other two meat dishes were as expected... breaded meats in tasty sauces, albeit a little on the tough side.

On the upside, the order was correct, food was hot, and the restaurant was very clean. I think next time we crave Chinese we will...

It was okay, but for the price i expected higher quality ingredients and better flavors. We ordered 5 dishes for a family of 4 including Shredded Ginger Beef, Honey Garlic Pork, Chicken Chow Mein x2 and Kung Pao Chicken. The ginger beef was really tough and chewy but had the right flavors. The Chicken Chow Mein was quite odd and devoid of any flavor and grossly overpriced for what it was - $1 worth of boiled noodles with a boiled sliced chicken breast on top - no sauce, vegetables or flavor. The Honey Garlic pork was fine but not a wow. The Kung Pao was nearly inedible. That being said the restaurant was busy with take out, the service was friendly and the restaurant looked immaculately clean. Probably wouldn't return until the buffet re-opens as the prices look...

Just tonight, we went and ordered take-out at the Winfield Chinese restaurant for Father’s Day. I was not expecting much, but sauce on my chow main and at least some edible, flavour some food!!! This was utterly ridiculous! The fried rice had like only 2 shrimp on it… the rice was a huge, big, deformed ball of putty and tasted like nothing. The sweet and sour chicken on the other hand, it was hard as a rock and stone cold like it was just sitting out at room temperature all day waiting to be served. They did not to put any sauce on my food and it was just bland. Instead, they just threw me like 20 pre-purchased sauce packets instead of making a sauce.. Weird tasting egg rolls too! Really disappointed and I will Never go...
