Arrived at the restaurant at 7:40pm on a Friday evening, we were running a bit late meeting up with friends. From the moment we walked in the staff was very pushy, it almost seemed like they were doing their best to get us fed and out the door as quick as possible. There was a group of servers standing off to the side staring us down as we read the menus, there was only 3 tables of people in the place at this time. The server came over uninvited 3 times in 8 minutes (no word of a lie) to "see if we were ready to order". I just chose a pizza at random because I felt pressured to do so. She was short in her replies, no smile to be seen with a condescending snippy tone when asked about specials or a recommendation. The place seemed very pretentious for an "old fashioned wood fired pizzeria". Honestly, nothing like the pizzerias in Europe that I've been to (and this place is trying to emulate European style thin crust pizza). The pizza itself was pretentious and average tasting, the crust was great but there was very little tomato sauce base and I found myself playing a game of spot the cheese under a "razor thin" layer of prosciutto. We also asked for mushrooms and pepperoni to be added to the pizza (neither appeared to have been added). The minimal ingredients were however fresh which was great and the taste was still surprisingly good considering everything the pie was missing. I can't remember the pizzas name exactly but it came with mound of greens on top of the pizza, which was strange and culinarily speaking made no sence. Not a salad mind you but a pile of leafy greens! Very strange and definitely not European that I know of.
When it came to the Bill, I was quite disappointed, those mushrooms and pepperoni that weren't on the pizza sure did find their way into the Bill! I also had a pint of their "house dark beer" which was not bad but whoppingly overpriced. It was more expensive than an average comparable Boddingtons, Newcastle or even Guiness, which are all far superior. Overall for a 12" pizza, a cesar (which my fiance did enjoy), a pint of the house dark and an undeserved tip (yes I did still tip, I may complain about my experience but im not cheap) the total came to just shy of $52.00. It may not sound too expensive and nowadays that's actually average for 2 people to eat out I'm sure, but when you leave the restaurant still hungry (because you ate a 1/2" thick pizza that seemed to be missing a significant quantity of the magical ingredients that make it a pizza) you develope that realization "I just overpayed". In short, order from Sarpinos, Dominos or the like. Their ingredients may not be as upper class but the value for money and actually feeling satisfied after your meal is a fair trade off in my opinion. Or of you're into thin crust, try a place called Pizzeria Prima Strada, I believe they have a few locations on Vancouver island. We went to the one in cobble hill and it was fantastic! Ive never had fresher anchovies and even though the crust was thin, they certainly didn't hold back on the ingredients. In fairness, maybe we did just catch the place on a bad day. I would be willing to try it again but definitely not in any rush to do so. Hope whoever reads this...
Read more900 Degrees Wood-Fired Pizzeria is a contemporary, cozy spot specializing in Neapolitan-style pizza with a welcoming atmosphere. It’s become a popular destination for locals and visitors.
The pizzeria offers a relaxed, modern vibe, spacious interior, and inviting patio seating. The décor is sleek, featuring industrial and rustic elements, with wood accents and open-concept seating. The wood-fired oven is the centrepiece, giving the restaurant a charming, authentic touch. The patio area is an excellent option on warm days, allowing diners to enjoy the outdoors while still being close to the action.
Overall, the ambiance is comfortable and well-suited for casual dining, but it’s not necessarily the coziest spot for a romantic evening. It’s more of a relaxed, family-friendly environment or an excellent place to meet up with friends.
900 Degrees prides itself on its Neapolitan-style pizzas, and it does a solid job executing the basics. The crust is thin, crisp around the edges, and lightly charred—precisely what you'd expect from a wood-fired oven. The toppings are fresh and flavorful, with various traditional and creative options.
A staple, Margherita pizza is simple yet delicious. It features a tangy tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil.
Another standout item is the Focaccia appetizer—warm, fluffy, and drizzled with olive oil and herbs. It's perfect for sharing while waiting for your main course. The menu also includes a variety of salads, appetizers, and a few pasta dishes that complement the pizzas, though I didn't find the pasta options as compelling as the pizzas.
It’s also worth noting that the kitchen can get a little backed up during busy times, so patience is required if you're dining during a rush. I recommend going for a late lunch or early dinner to avoid the crowds.
The pricing at 900 Degrees is fair for the quality and style of pizza. Pizzas range from around $14 to $20, the standard for a Neapolitan-style pizzeria in the area. Appetizers and salads are also reasonably priced.
900 Degrees Wood-Fired Pizzeria delivers a solid if not exceptional, pizza experience. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, the wood-fired pizzas are flavourful and well-made, and various menu options exist.
The main draw here is the pizza, which is delicious and cooked to perfection. It's perfect if you love the thin, slightly charred crust that comes with Neapolitan-style pies. While it’s not a place that’ll necessarily blow your mind, it’s a reliable and enjoyable option for a casual meal out in the Langford area.
If you’re looking for a relaxed meal with good food and a nice vibe, 900 Degrees is worth a visit. Just be prepared for the occasional wait...
Read moreI was really surprised by the reviews on this place. I was super excited to try it because I absolutely love authentic Italian pizza and also NY style pizza (which I try to get whenever I can find it!). I'm surprised none of the reviews seem to have addressed this but what I got when ordering the NY style was not what I have ever experienced in the countless other places I've ordered from or been to (including many spots in NYC). The dough was extremely thick and chewy but not chewy in a great neapolitan way, it was chewy like a hard piece of bread that makes your jaw hurt. I expected a thin, foldable slice. They charge you more for this style so I was disappointed by that. To make matters worse, they actually gave me the wrong pizza as well and it was absolutely not to my taste so on top of the crust style not being right it just ended up being an inedible pizza.
I called to get an exchange and they obliged after some questions - I ended up not wanting to get another NY style and went for one of their basic options but they weren't willing to refund me or offer anything else in place of the amount that I had paid extra ($10 - edit: since the owner responded trying to make me sound like I'm bluffing about this, the $10 covered the upgrade to NY style and an add-on. Regardless, I paid for something that I did not receive and they felt entitled to keep that money) for the original pizza which did seem like pretty poor service since I was already really disappointed in the experience. Since then, I've tried to see if the reviews that would have addressed this were in the lower starred reviews (which I wish I had checked). It's disappointing to see management being hostile to constructive reviews instead of using it to better their experience. I would absolutely love to frequent this place more often and sing their praises if they could improve their food and service. The desserts looked good - I would probably recommend this place for a dessert after dining somewhere else because the ambiance is pretty nice for the Millstream shopping centre. They also seem pretty kid friendly, so I'd maybe bring a kid here for dinner and dessert since most pizza is good pizza to kids. I appreciate that they make an effort to use good quality ingredients, including some organic components which is hard to find and should be commended, just wish the execution was much better especially...
