Food: Expensive, and terrible quality. Wait Staff: Kind, Polite, But very untrained. Kitchen: Clearly incompetent.
Ordered two mains, a side, and a glass of wine... Over a 60.00 meal after alls said and done, was expected to pay for all of the over-cooked poorly made food, Despite returning the two of the orders, and not drinking the wine.
The wine was poorly described as "smooth, easy drinking." - It was not, I've had cheap liquor that went down smoother, and tasted better. I took a small sip, and left it at that. Not that I'm complaining because it wasn't smooth, it was one of the cheapest on the menu, I didn't expect this wine to be amazing. But if you pay for a wine, which the menu describes as "smooth", that wine should at least go down smoother then Alberta Pure Vodka (which is, awful stuff...) It didn't.
The Cesar Salad I ordered tasted like soap, The croutons were over-cooked and under seasoned, it had very little dressing, was predominantly made of spinach, I guess the shredded white cheese they used was about the only part of it that tasted like a cesar ingredient. I sent it back uneaten, I was still billed for it.
The artichoke dip was... Not very good. Incredibly bland, despite clearly having salsa, cheese, and other items in it. It was just... Flavorless. The texture wasn't great, but I can't say it's terrible because it genuinely didn't taste like anything. Still, tasteless dip is bad dip. Plain sour cream would have genuinely been better.
The burger itself tasted fantastic, chuck mix was excellent, and unlike the rest of the food the patty was actually cooked well. it was the only thing I ordered that was made remotely close to properly. Though I asked for caramelized onions on the burger, and recieved barely-cooked red onions on the side. the yam fries I subbed were on the thin side and somewhat overcooked. Despite this, the burger was edible, and if it wasn't for the other issues I wouldn't be writing a review. Cumulatively, this burger and it's sides varied from amazing to not great. It was a solidly, making this burger a solidly "meh" experience overall.
The wait staff are very clearly poorly / untrained and didn't think to ask what was wrong when I sent 2/4 items back, and left a 3rd untouched. They just asked if I wanted a to go plate, which no??? This is terrible, why would I wajt that? Clearly there must have been some miscommunication because no ones that dumb... Not unintentionally anyways. I was also still charged for the full amount, for food that was a combination of poorly described, poorly prepared, badly made, and overcooked.
Oh, and can we go back to tje Cesar salad for a second? HOW DO YOU SCREW UP A CESAR SALAD? It's literally the most basic dish possible, I have two friends, both professional chef's, who, after seeing a photo of the food, are making fun of me for even taking a bite of the salad before returning it. And honestly? that's on me, clearly I need better friends. But milestones very clearly needs...
Read moreYesterday, my lovely wife and I ate at the Milestones in Victoria’s Harbour, and the meal was decent enough that we decided we would try another Milestones today. This Milestones completely blew yesterday’s outta the water. We did try different dishes but the quality and flavour of today’s food was incomparable! Not sure if today is an anomaly and today’s chef is just ‘firing on all cylinders’ or if this chef’s food is always like this but to quote George Takei, “Oh, myyyyy”!!!!!
The service was fantastic, and the food and the flavours were “on pointe”!!!!
We ordered the Seafood chowder as an appetizer and chowder did not accurately describe this dish today. It was more like a hot seafood salad with some soup sprinkled in to provide that yummy comfort one finds in home-made meals.
We also ordered the spinach-artichoke dip and it too was great. Even though it was a tiny bit salty for my liking, still one of the best I’ve had for a while.
For entrees, we chose the Blackened Chicken Tagliarini and the 16oz Rib-eye.
The pasta was surprisingly flavourful and al-dente. The sauce was complex in flavours and the fresh diced tomato added a touch of freshness that complemented the pasta well. The charred chilli-lime butter was fresh and cut through any heavy flavours you might find in the sauce. Divine!
The steak…what can I say about the steak…let me put it to you this way…Both my wife and I agree that it was the best steak we’ve had in years. It was cooked to perfection - Medium-rare - and tender!!! I mean melt-in-your-mouth tender!!! This rivalled, no, beat any steak we’ve had at Cactus Club, The Keg, and even other “finer” restaurants.
In short, we left extremely satisfied, not just because of the size of the meals but because this was simply the best tasting meal we’ve had this trip. We’re coming back here next time we’re in the area for sure!
For dessert we had the Apple Cobbler. London told us it is the best of the offerings and it was not a lie. Definitely good!!!
Our server, London was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and very helpful! Tonight’s Chef’s name is Manny. Our very, very thankful compliments to both! I hope your experience is as...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Milestones on Millstream for our Anniversary. We were a little dressed up, so while seating us the Manager asked if there was a special occasion to which we did explain it was our Anniversary. He congratulated us, and then he passed on the information to our wonderful server, Krista. Krista was all smiles and friendliness as she served us throughout the evening, making us feel very special. We got a couple drinks to start, which the table next to us was so gracious enough to pay for as they left shortly after we were seated, and Krista was very excited to share the news with us. My husband ordered the steak sandwiches, and I ordered the 7oz sirloin. We were both very pleased with our meals - steak cooked to perfection, and my sides of seasonal veg and mashed potatoes were flavourful, tender, and the potatoes in particular are some of the best I have ever had. My husband greatly enjoyed his side Caesar salad as well, and he can be picky with his salads. There was the tiniest mishap with one of our meals, but both Krista and the wonderful Manager (I am so sorry I do not recall his name) were the picture of professionalism, and went well our of their way to ensure we had a pleasant dining experience overall, which of course we did. We then had desserts, my husband got the Ultimate Cookie, and I had the Key Lime Pie, both of which were very tasty. My husband noted the cookie was maybe a tad dry, but the ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate/caramel drizzle balanced that out in my opinion. Also, the desserts were served with sparklers to help us celebrate our anniversary, which was a much appreciated special touch. Top the whole night off with one of the best mojitos I have ever had, our evening at Milestones was an anniversary well spent! Many thanks to Krista, and the amazing Manager who took care of us on Sunday the 28th! We will...
