Went here for my Grandfather's birthday and was floored by the lack of service provided. Our waitress failed to ask anyone if they wanted drinks - the entire meal! No pop, no coffee. She never asked if our food was ok nor did she come back to the table to inquire if anyone needed anything at any point and time. We asked her if there were crayons for the little one at our table and dissmissively got told that she didn't know, meanwhile upon exiting the restaurant we see a stack of coloring books alongside multiple cups of crayons by the door that were clearly meant for children customers to use. The food was overcooked, blackend meat loaf and fries left too long in the frier. Lumpy mashed potatos and very little flavor. Despite this we kept a positive attitude for my grandfather's sake and beings as dessert wasn't ever offered, decided to go elsewhere for it. I recieved my bill of 20.00 and admittedly planned on leaving a low ball tip due to her lack of professionalism but was livid when the waitress passed me the debit machine and it read 24.00. I asked if there was a mistake and she said "no, I told the woman if you wanted a party here there would be an automatic 20% added to everyone's bills. If you have a problem talk to her". Excuse me? Ok so why didn't it show on the bill? Why didn't she say something to each person paying? That is just sneaky in my opnion. Honestly, I was at least leaving her a $5 tip so this little tactic didn't benefit her, it actually cost her and if she had bothered to waitress our table, I would have been leaving her a $10-$15 tip because I know parties can be overwhelming. It felt like she had already locked in her tips before we stepped foot in the door and therefore didn't feel she needed to bother providing good service. My sister even sent her untouched meal back and the woman refused to credit her. When my sister asked to speak to the Manager, the woman said she was the Manager. Insult to injury - this woman still forced the 20% tip onto the debit machine and then walked away. Upon returning to the table she offered her a free piece of dessert which was declined...I mean I guess it's nice that ONE out of the 13 of us was offered dessert. These guys called my Aunt to inform us our tables couldn't be together and then to ask if we could change the time of the party. At the time we figured it was maybe due to another party coming in or perhaps they were typically busy at that time of day...they were literally dead in there. Not even half the restaurant was filled. Definitely won't be back which is a shame because I was hoping to go there for Easter dinner on Monday. I'd be happy paying an automatic if it matched the service provided. She wasn't friendly, she wasn't helpful and she was very rude towards the end. We are a goofy bunch of big hearted people - you'd have walked away with ALOT more in tips had you put any effort into doing your job. If you hate it so much, perhaps it's time to move on because paying customers deserve better. We go out to restaurants multiple times a year for birthdays and celebrations...yours is the one who couldn't seemingly handle a group of 13. I'm sorry if you were having a bad day but I work in customer service too and being able to leave that at the door when you walk thru it is...
Read moreI didn’t have high hopes to begin with, since I’ve heard so many horrible things about the Imperial Diner in LaSalle — and sadly, every single bad review is true. This place has gone completely downhill from what it used to be. Save your money and go elsewhere. The overall experience from start to finish was downright horrible.
The service was awful. Instead of helping or showing basic courtesy, they spoke with attitude and made me feel like I was a burden just for asking about my order because it was taking a long time. No customer should ever be treated that way.
When the food finally came out, it was cold. I ordered soup as well, and it was ice cold and tasted absolutely horrible. The broasted chicken I ordered wasn’t just cold — it even had a lot of blood in it. I had to point it out to management several times, and instead of taking responsibility, they argued with me and tried to get away without fixing the problem. They were super rude, unfriendly, and combative instead of apologizing or fixing the issue. I had to insist just to get a discount, when normally this would be automatically corrected without question.
To make matters worse, they even charged extra for several condiments that should’ve been included. That’s cheap, unprofessional, and shows they don’t care at all about their customers.
All around, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Cold and disgusting food, undercooked chicken, terrible soup, and management with a horrible attitude. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who expects even the most basic level of courtesy. Do yourself a favor — don’t waste...
Read moreMy family and I have been returning customers to the Imperial Diner ever since they first opened because we enjoyed their delicious food and great service at reasonable prices. However, since being under new management, the service has become terrible and poorly handled. On several occasions when we would order takeout, takeout meals would be incomplete (ex. breakfast omelet missing toast, broasted chicken meal missing gravy, etc.) or incorrect (ex. grilled shrimp instead of fried shrimp for seafood platters). Yesterday, September 21st, 2024, was the final straw. My family placed an order for takeout: one Super Broasted Combo with Gravy and One Fisherman's Platter. When my dad returned home from picking up the order, we discovered that the Super Broasted Combo was correct, but the Fisherman's Platter was Liver N' Onions. When we called the restaurant to notify them of the error, the employee claimed that they tried to call my cell phone number that I gave them to inform us that they had made a mistake, but my cell phone didn't get a call all evening, so that appeared to be a lie. When they offered to replace the entire order, my dad returned for the freshly-prepared meals and came back home. However, while they corrected the Liver N' Onions to the Fisherman's Platter, the newly-prepared Super Broasted Combo was now missing the fried shrimp and gravy. Despite having given this restaurant several chances to improve their practices and be more mindful, it is disappointing to see that their lack of attention to assembling meals for customers remains lacking. We will not...
