NEWEST UPDATE - June 2025. Please ignor The earlier comments . We ended up at la Grill for a variety of recents. It was not our choice to be there . However, did enjoy the breakfast bar and found the food to be excellent in a very extensive wide variety. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a really good breakfast . Our only issues had little to do with the food. We checked the website and it stated the Breakfast Bar was $21.95 per person. We were presented a bill of $34.95 per person apparently there is a upcharge beause it was fathers day. Seriously. $90 for breakfast, the tip and the tax is outrageous.
LAST TRY - July 2021 - gave this restaurant another try. Why? - not sure. Really want to support local business. Again very disappointed. Prices were up (outside dining) but the food was disappointing. We ordered 8 oz steak with baked potatoes and mixed vega. Steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare) but it hadn't been rested or seasoned. It was tasteless and bled all over the plate. Both salad and cooked vegetables left a lot to be desired. Salad lacked taste and greens browned. Mixed vegs were overcooked, strange combo, not seasoned, and poorly cut. Overall disappointing - not going back. Also we ordered lemonade - got tall skinny glasses but the straws were 2 inches too short.
ORIGINAL REVIEW + We have always been fans of the Towne Grill but recently we have noticed the food is just not up to its usual quality. Everytime we have been there lately we have to get at least one order corrected for very amateurish mistakes. (microwaving broaster chicken - unable to make standard bar drinks - overcooked veggies. We went for breakfast today as a treat and were very disappointed with the taste (usually great). The potatoes were overcooked outside and mushy inside. The eggs were suppoed to be over medium, but were over easy, the ham was greasy, etc etc. I don't think we'll be going back.
REVISION POST PANDEMIC August 2020 - We visited for lunch and we're pleased they were in compliance with the regulations regarding COVID 19. However the food was disappointing. Halibut sandwich was one of our favorites but this time it lacked taste. The fries were severally overcooked - just shy of burnt - you can only throw them into the dryer so many times. Service was excellent as always but the cost of poor food makes this...

Please read the negative reviews of this place!!!!! They are true
Steak is thin and has no flavor. They add no seasoning or marinades. Yes a steak should be good without any additions. This is not the place to expect that at. It is not a Fine Dining establishment even though the owner would have you believe it is according to his response from another negative review.
This restaurant also caters to a visibly elder crowd and apparently also their palates that might be the same as it was in their younger years.
Service was not exceptional in any way. Our waiter seemed dumbfounded when we had objection to the quality of the food or questioned the ingredients
If you order the salmon bisque be aware that it’s going to have an overt bean flavor to it.
Back to the suggestion of fine dining. I enjoy fine dining establishments quite a bit which would include Take 5 Bistro, The Keg, Nico’s on Erie street, and LaGuardia Downtown Windsor. La Towne Grille is not a comparison or anywhere near the quality.
Inspect your food for unwanted foreign objects. I had hair in my food.
If you complain to the owner be prepared for him to go on the defensive. Although we did not pay for the food we did not eat. He was immediately defensive when questioned. Most restaurants immediately fall over themselves if something as disgusting as hair is found in the food.
Do not bother eating here. Go back down the street to JOE SCHMOES, or The G.O.A.T. or even better go to a true fine dining establishment...
Read moreThis was our first time dinning at LA. Thought we’d check it out based on recent reviews. We arrived around 5pm. Sat. evening. Most booths were occupied, but the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Despite lovely decor and wonderful service, the food was simply HORRIBLE from start to finish. I can only hope the chef cooking that night was filling in for their regular chef, otherwise some of these reviews don’t make sense. We ordered bruschetta to start - it was just awful…I mean how do you ruin bruschetta? Their chef found a way. Our salads arrived next - 1 Caesar salad, 1 Greek salad. Caesar was limp & non-descript. The deconstructed Greek salad arrived in a tiny bowl & contained beets and hot peppers. Sorry, but that’s not a Greek salad - find another name for it, so as not to mislead customers. Next came the seared scallops. The dish looked beautiful but the scallops were completely overcooked and flavourless. (Darn! I was really looking forward to those scallops). My husband ordered the veal parmigiana with farfell pasta in an Arabiata sauce. The dish arrived with 2 thick overcooked, dried out pieces of veal - missing the “parmigiana” altogether. The veal was not coated, nor was there any signs of cheese. The veal was so dried out, he had a heck of a time trying to cut it. He didn’t eat the pasta at all. I had the Gnocchi in rose sauce. They were hardly the “little pillows of heaven” I was anticipating. All in all an awful dinner. The best part of the meal was our cappuccino coffee. We won’t be back for dinner…$157 is simply too expensive for 2 enjoyable...
