Look up mid in the dictionary and you'll find a photo of this restaurant. Place used to serve primo food but all restaurants have a shelf life and this one aged badly. It's got some good ideas like the make your own tacos with the lettuce leaves but in practice it just doesn't work out. Ever use a tiny spoon to shovel ground beef onto a thin slice of lettuce that cant even hold up its own weight? The wings are nice and the desserts are decadent but honestly just take the extra 10 minutes to drive to Sandwhich if you want wings or a proper bar. The prices aren't great here, and I know I'm repeating myself but the make your own taco thing with the lettuce and cheese and trying to shove all that stuff onto a leaf of lettuce that cant even hold up its own weight...who came up with that idea? Had a friend named Bill Dwyer whos a former cook and knows the guy in the kitchen at the G.O.A.T. (at least the last time I went), and he told me this was par for the course for the guy. Honestly they've gotta find a new cook or keep up with the trends. They serve seafood here, which is unfortunate, because they're competing with Salute against that and Salute is just way better with seafood, hands down. To render judgement on this formerly vaunted tourist attraction hurts emotionally because I remember how good and fresh everything was at the G.O.A.T. when it first opened up, and it breaks my heart to see the state of it now. How far it's fallen. Oh, all the waitresses are scantily clad, nothing against it, but it's like they can't decide if they're a sports bar or hooters. If you're into all that and just wanna watch the game, grab a beer and have some mid-tier eats at above average prices, this is probably the...
Read moreWent on Monday night for Football viewing. It was very busy so this is definitely the place to go if you want to watch the game with other football fans. The food items vary from original stuff to items that come directly from a frozen bag at the grocery store (tater tots, onion rings). The ketchup tasted weird. The house salad with friend goat cheese was good. One complaint, wayyyyy too loud (even for a Monday night football crowd, people were commenting on it). Speakers connected to the TV's were too loud - the waitresses made comments too. It was busy and our waitress didn't make it over to get our drink order very quickly so the hostess noticed and came over which was very nice of her. My husband asked her about a draft beer on the menu that he hadn't heard of and she said she wasn't sure about it as she wasn't a server, so he hesitantly ordered it to try it out. He had wished she knew it was a Stout beer, or atleast had asked someone for him, because he wouldn't have ordered it had he known. After mentioning this to the waitress they did happily swap it out for him so bonus points for that for sure. I enjoy that they serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, the prices are pretty high so I'm anticipating a higher quality breakfast (more than your local pub breakfast). Will update review once we...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to try the Goat for lunch today because we heard great things. We decided to order each a different burger and fries one for my wife being on a gluten free bun due to a severe allergy. We sat and waited patiently for our food as a hour goes by it finally comes out. The waitress had not been by to ask if we wanted another drink at this point. The waitress brought out both burgers and asked which one was the chorizo burger which I proceeded to tell her it was mine. As she walked away I thought the bun looked different on my burger so when I saw her walk by before I ate my food I asked which one was the gluten free bun. She proceeded to tell me mine was the gluten free so they had given my wife the regular bun. She said she would change it so they brought it to the kitchen and within 5 minutes brought me a burger with a gluten free bun again and the regular bun to my wife. She said that my wife had the chorizo originally and with the regular bun but they switched them and gave me the with the gluten free bun on the goat burger which was my wife’s burger. We paid our bill for the drinks and left. You can’t cook 2 new burger patty’s in 5 minutes. My wife would have been sick because of the way they did not listen to detail. Disappointing and...
