I had an eye on this restaurant not too long ago, ever since I got a glimpse of a positive comment from the Montreal Blog, that I like to read from time to time. What stole my attention was an AYCE Tartare (only on Tuesdays for a limited time) Fascinating! Googled Louis & Jacob Resto Bar and captivated by what I read “Our mission is to see you again.” ... and ... “Il y a de fortes chances que chez Louis & Jacob vous sort de votre zone de confort” As this IS my “zone de confort”, this was the moment I have been waiting for. Lots of parking outside, with a very chic and sophisticated ambiance inside. We were seated in a chilly section inside the restaurant, and they cranked up the heat, following our request. There were 3 varieties of tartare, beef & sausage, fish and a seafood assortment, accompanied by a salad and fries. These were not true tartare in the literal sense of the word, as I would not be inclined to have raw sausage. The fish, however, would barely touch the frying pan, in my opinion. So good! Needless to say that this is a tartare fiesta that we kept on indulging without the fries, this time. The tartare was a tad too salty, more so with the beef & sausage. The one thing that stopped us from going on is as you get fuller, the saltiness became more pronounced. Service from Mirinda, our waitress, was impeccable. Overall, well worth the experience.

Nothing wow about this place Will I come back? I don't think so. We came here on a Tuesday, and they had a tartare all you can eat special on that night, so we opted for that option. It came with a pea cream soup, the soup was way to salty For the tartare, the options available were tuna, scallop, shrimp, and beef, it also came with friends and a salad. The tuna one was good but all the other ones I didn't really like, I don't eat raw scallops and also I don't like beef tartare. And the shrimp one was just a weird texture We also ordered a crab cake but it was okay. My friend had asked not to have the beef tartare because he doesn't eat meet but they still had put it on his plate and he accidentally ate some. I ordered an espresso martini and it was horrible. But one thing I can say was that the service was good,I think the owner was working and helping the employees which I love to see It seems that they also had a private room upstairs and events

I booked reservation for the all you can eat tartare (39$) special and was discuraged by the waiter not to take it , he reapeted to me 3 times that it was alot of food , just to be served the smallest tartare i ve ever seen with no taste , entree(18$)instead of 14$ price on the menu , , in the end I was still hungry after eating the main plate which was 25$ in the menu and I was charge 29$ plus 4$ for asking for fetuccini sauce without being told it would be an extra, veal was over cooked , . Spend 100$ to eat two things and 2 glasses of wine instead of 39$ for the all you can eat tartare that comes with soup , salad , fries and then my main at 25$ and my two glasses of wine . Left starving , smallest plates i ve ever been served . My friend ordered the calamari and was not charged after she said it was dull and I tasted and agreed . With an entree of crab cake at 12$ on the menu was charged 17$ . Obviously never going there again . .

Terrible experience from A to Z Waitress shows up with no drinks or food menus Waited 25 minutes before receiving a mojito which had NOTHING to do with what you would expect…returned the drinks and ordered half liter of white wine…served warm! Asked for an ice bucket …arrived 15 min later…we’ve already been there for more than one hour and still no menus in place…asked for some bread, it came dry and with small butter cup which had butter that had previously melted and had somewhat reformed ….ordered food…pasta of the day and fish of the day….ok but nothing to give it a special rating….the service was extremely slow or inadequate…..waitress confirmed she was new and so many things haven’t been taught to her, she kept apologizing…found a big piece of broken glass and a n ant nest under our table as they were feeding from some food left on the floor….my friend and I ordered one extra glass of wine to share and she served a different wine explaining that this one was cold and served us a glass each instead of one to share as per our request…..then the bill (s) came with several mistakes , overcharged etc….

It was a first AND last visit to this restaurant! It cost us $75 each for such a terrible lunch experience! The manager never came to apologize or offered something in return to compensate! Stay away...
