We (2 adults and 4 kids) came for a few hours of fun on March 13th during our March Break for what we hoped would be the highlight of our trip….it was a horrible experience for my son. Unfortunately three issues happened – all of which were completely and easily avoidable…. had the instructor taken a few moments time to prevent them. And sadly as a result one of my sons had a horrible time – which of course meant I could not enjoy it either. None of us had ever been so we had no idea what to expect. Take my advice – when everyone goes into the training room, everyone needs to try the “simulator” test to practice the hand signals and body positions. This is basic and our instructor did not make this happen. In our case, we along with a bunch of other kids and their parents went into a training room. Our instructor should have told us that every ‘flyer’ needed to try out the positions and hand signals – instead he randomly picked people and left it open to do this step. So neither my son nor I did this – a big mistake but I had no idea – sadly the lack of structure from the instructor meant my 14 year old son did not understand the hand signals so spent his first of 2 flights all mixed up. This was very poorly done by the instructor. We then went into the “suit room” – my suit was about 8 inches too long in the arms – I specifically asked the instructor if this was a problem and he brushed it off. All he needed to say was “roll up the sleeves or they will get in the way during the flight”… but he said nothing and yes it interfered with my flight by billowing up way past my hands – again completely preventable had he taken 2 seconds. Next my son, who at 14 is 6’2” (and growing), tall and very broad was given a suit that was tight around each leg. He should have been sized properly so that there was some room for the instructor to “grab on” to extra fabric to help him during his flight. No time was given to him to assess his fit – how were we to know?? So my advice – make sure the suit is a little loose and not too long – adjust the cuffs by rolling them up! Again had they provided a few moments of effort this would have been avoided. So that son had a horrible first flight as he didn’t understand the hand signals (as he never tried them out); is taller and broader then the instructor (who is a slim 5’8”- ish build) who had great difficulty helping him and finally because of the tight fit of the suit the instructor could not get a grip on his pant so his second flight was barely any better than the horrible first flight. We sadly have all this on video as we bought the video package - Sky Venture watch the video then refund my money please? So my suggestion to Sky Venture is you have the opportunity to create a great time for families BUT you need to work harder on customer service particularly if you want any word of mouth referrals or repeat business. You won’t be...
Read moreWOW - What an FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!! This is a MUST DO for any visitor to (or resident of) Montreal!!! I travelled 3 hours and 20 minutes by bus all the way to Montreal (and back the same day) JUST to go to iFly and it was TOTALLY WORTH IT!! After this AMAZING day, I almost flew home on my own because my feet never touched the ground!!! I was barely out of the building and I was on the phone sharing my INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE!!!!
From the minute I entered iFly Montreal, I knew I was in good hands. The administrative staff were welcoming and ready to help. As I walked through the impressive, modern and clean building, I got more & more excited with every step. James, my instructor, enthusiastically welcomed me and answered all of my questions. When the others arrived, he made sure that we knew what to do and what to expect, quizzing us on all aspects of the instructional video. This "upped" my confidence, knowing that James and the iFly team had our safety as their #1 priority! After we were equipped and dressed, we were ready to go!!!! I was teamed with beginner, intermediate and advanced flyers, which made the experience even MORE interesting, since I was able to see what I could strive towards. Watching the others soaring & doing acrobatic manoeuvres, all under James' watchful eye & with his professional guidance, I couldn't wait to try the basics myself, knowing I was safe with James' and looking forward to future visits to get even better to experiment with the more complicated acrobatics! My flight was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - I actually FLEW!!! I did the "Fly Up" and I could not believe that I ACTUALLY FLEW!! It was the BEST FEELING EVERJJJ. James was SO PATIENT with me, helping me to achieve the perfect flight position then up we went, high in the wind tunnel soaring and spinning!!!!! It was TOTALLY AWESOME and I have the photos to prove it, which I am sharing with EVERYBODY!!!
This was an INCREDIBLELY WONDERFUL DAY that I will remember FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you James, Jennifer and the...
Read moreOkay-ish experience, not worth the price and hassle at all, especially if you run in trouble, don't expect them to understand or help. IFLY will probably answer to this review saying: "Please contact us so we can find an arrangement" just so that people reading this review feel like they care. Don't get fooled. Contacting them leads to nothing.
THE GOOD: -Flying, sort of. For the price, better get a tandem sky diving jump on discount with Groupon, MUCH better
THE BAD: -The VR video is a bit blurry, extremely shaky with the wind, doesn't align with your head if you look sideways. You can see better quality on YouTube if you have access to a VR headset -Can't hear a thing the instructor says in the prep room while you have a helmet and earplugs on. Before flying they tell you that to go up higher is an extra price (why BTW?) Then once in the prep room you think they are asking you if you're ready so you nod "yes", but they are actually asking you to go higher. BOOM! Extra charge. -A person couldn't join as she got pregnant between the purchase time and booking time, had to pay an extra fee to book another date.
THE UGLY: -Customer service. Impossible to reach them to take an appointment, line always busy, not answering. And you NEED an appointment to get there. My mom kept calling and was unable to reach them or get a callback -Customer service on-site. Some people on our group decided not to go, so we had extra time each. They did not give it to us, said other people were waiting so we had to leave. Makes no sense, we had 2 people not going so at least another 15 min time -Can't win with them, no compromise, they made us pay for the confusing extras, didn't want to give us the extra time we were supposed to get, didn't want to get us a credit for the misunderstanding. Could have slapped that girl with the "no", attitude, whatever we say. They even agreed they made a mistake but didn't care. -Fees, extra fees, flying higher fee, picture fees, booking fees,...
