Restaurant Vien Dong — Restaurant in Laval (administrative region)

I was really looking forward to trying this place since i’ve been looking for a good new asian takeout spot and honestly I was disappointed. I ordered chicken general tao, steamed rice, wonton soup, spicy peanut butter chicken dumplings and an imperial roll. First of all, for the variety of food I received it was a very fair price (22$) - you receive a 10% discount for takeout. However the quality of the food was very questionable. The spicy chicken dumplings were mediocre, they weren’t spicy at all and they were crispy/fried instead of your usual steamed peanut butter dumplings. The wonton soup contained 3 wontons that tasted funky couldn’t tell what was in them (shrimp or chicken or tofu who knows) and the broth wasn’t the best. The imperial roll was the best tasting thing, very crispy and delicious but THE SAUCE FOR IT lord was it pathetic, it’s not like your classic sweet chili sauce, this sauce had 0 consistency it was all liquid and tasteless. The worst for last was the general tao chicken, to call the chicken general tao would be a lie. The sauce and chicken have nothing to do with general tao, the chicken was fried and dipped into pineapple soggy onions and peppers and some red tasteless sauce. The experience was unsatisfactory and the worst part is that they didn’t include any chopsticks or spoons or any kind of utensils and napkins. No effort or quality here I can’t understand why all the other amazing reviews, everyone’s let me down. Also they sell each fortune cookie for a dollar instead of including them with the meal like at other...

Vien Dong (Viens donc?) provides a variety of Asian-styled menu geared towards a non-Asian clientele. You'll find Vietnamese options, a bit of Thai as well as Schezwan. The one defining option I hoped to eat was taken off the menu as the locals don't order it enough which is a damn shame.

I was talking about their Bahn Mi sandwich! Laval has a complete lack of Bahn Mi options! The hunt continues....

I opted for their grilled beef and vermicelli instead and ended up being pretty decent. It was a big bowl and generously sized however I would have hoped for more meat and less vermicelli. The egg roll was decent and the side salad was refreshing.

All in all, decent but not very notable... so I doubt I'll be back.

If the owner ever reads this and has started provided Bahn Mi again, please message me and I'll be back and be more than happy to change...

Not recommending this place, over priced, quality of service and food ,Not impressed at all. If you are a real asian. You would know where to go for a PHO or authentic vietnamesse food. Service was bad, staff were not very welcoming , no smile….. food wasn’t good, I ordered grilled chicken combo, soup that comes with it was just some lil veggies…. Grill chicken can’t really taste the marination, and very small portion. The soup my sister and brother-in-law ordered was the Special which supposed to come with beef balls, rare beef, trips, tendons… was just WOW 1 beef balls, no trips at all and the beef was very tiny pieces… just so disappointing and plus it was a large size .. that looks like a small soup at other regular vietnamesse restaurant. Sorry but it’s the truth… I regret coming to...
