WARNING IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!
My girlfriend and I had a bad experience with this restaurant on the weekend that put her health at risk. I'm extremely disappointed in the way the staff handled the severity of a life threatening allergy
We placed a Takeout order over the phone on Saturday evening, and our story is below.
After having a 15 minute conversation with the waiter about an anaphylactic reaction to wheat, both the waiter and the chef assured us that the balsamic glaze in the salmon entrée did not contain wheat.
We questioned the balsamic glaze that was included in the Salmon dinner, due to research that some may contain wheat. The waiter mentioned that the chef read the bottle of "in house" glaze to confirm no wheat was included.
Being overly causeous, my girlfriend decided to leave out the dressing completely and just have the salmon with lemon and garlic only as seasoning, and the green beans steamed.
When picking up the order, the waiter reconfirmed the order did not contain wheat.
Upon returning home we noticed that the salmon entrée was not seasoned with only lemon and garlic, but instead had the balsamic glaze that we tried to avoid. Also, the green beans were mixed in together. Since they repeatedly confirmed that the glaze was allergy safe, my girlfriend decided to try it.
After taking only a few bites, she noticed something didn't feel right. Over the next ten minutes, her throat started to swell shut and we had to administer an epipen. We then had to go to the hospital to avoid any complications.
If we were not prepared for this situation, the night could have ended very differently. The staff knew the severity of the allergy, and was very uninformed on the ingredients that they use on their own products.
It was very unprofessional of the staff to confirm multiple times no allergen. Not only did they incorrectly prepare the meal, their carelessness put my girlfriend's life at risk.
Allergies are not to be taken lightly, as anyone who is effected by allergies know how truly servere they actually are.
We will not be eating here in the future, and I advise against it if you have any allergies.
They were carelessness, and if they had been honest and upfront about being unsure of the ingredients, this situation could have been avoided as we would have chosen another option.
Most restaurants cater to my girlfriends allergy, and will alter the meal as they understand the severity of an anaphylactic allergy.
If this message reaches the Armondo's staff, please be more careful in the future and only serve items you know the ingredients to. Also, please properly train your staff on how to handle allergies, it could...
Read moreWe took our neighbors to this restaurant last night as a thank you for some work they did for us. We were a party of five. We ordered a couple of appetizers one being the bruschetta. Triangle pieces of dried flat bread with a bowl of cut up tomatoes/salsa. We had to ask for olive oil to put on the dried bread so we could swallow it. We got our main course meal but had not received any of the salads. The waiter was so bad he he looked frustrated and frazzled and it was not even busy. He was not friendly and had zero personality. He was way in over his head trying to do a job he seemed to have no experience in. We had to ask for more water and he brought 5 people a half litre and said that was all he could bring us for now. Three people had pasta and we well all done our meals and it finally came after we asked twice for it. We had to ask another waitress to bring us more water and at least she brought us a full litre. This was probably the worst service in a restaurant I have ever had. Everyone thought the food was fine but the services was horrible. One of the people in our group stated she had eaten there a couple weeks prior and had the same waiter and he was the same. Just terrible. I tried to call this evening to tell the manager but there is no manager, I was told to call back in the day. I am new to the area but will not be supporting...
Read moreI am writing you to let you know of my disappointing experience at the leamington location. I ordered a medium pizza - well done - and got a pizza that was barely cooked. The meat should be caramelized and the crust should be beautiful golden brown. My pizza was soggy with zero caramelization, and white doughy crust. When I called the location after I picked it up they verified with the kitchen that what they gave me was their idea of well done. When I asked the person on the phone if they thought a well done pizza should be caramelized and golden brown, their reply was "i don't know, im not a cook", which leaves me to believe that the staff there have no idea what your food should look and tastes like, or that there is no measurable standard for what your product should be. Either the oven temperature is not hot enough, they are not cooking long enough, or the staff have poor culinary skills. Inevitably,I had to go home and finishing cooking my own pizza, and whom ever I spoke to one the phone hung up on me when I told them that is what I will have to do. I thought Armandos had good standards until my experience today - left me wanting more, but in all...
